Hola all!

I've recently gotten back into painting and modeling and I've begun a crazed search over the internet for miniatures, paints, ideas and a general place to get some tips, tricks and the other who-haa's out there.

I'm thirty years old (on old ***** compared to some of you), married, three kids, and work my arse off, but when I find the time, I like to sit down and sling paint onto miniatures. I started painting a little over 10 years back, then had kids and it all went right into the closet and promptly was forgotten. While rummaging in said closet about a year ago I found them again, got interested, started painting, and then had to switch jobs and move.

So, I just found the buggers again after another year or so away from it. Seeing as I'm now settled into a nice big house here, have the mornings to myself while the wife is at work and the kids are at school, I've decided to get back into it again. I'm better than some, worse than others, but I think I'm fairly decent overall. You can take a look at the only three I've put on on CMoN though I've got a couple more to toss up, much better actually.

Anyhow, I don't play the games at all, though it looks interesting, I would never manage the time nor the peace required that the children would certainly never get me (or more to the point, they would think it REALLY cool and bugger me to the point of exhaustion). I'm pretty much just interested in painting and scenery, though the wife is fighting me on the scenery bit as she would rather not have it 'about'.

Right now I've got a ton of miniatures just floating around from about ten years ago (lots of Ral Partha Dwarves, Grenadier Rangers/Elfs and a couple of AD&D Monsters) but the last couple of weeks or so I've been hitting a Hobby Store USA or Games Workshop and perusing and 'somehow' I never make it out the door less than $50 in hand or more. The miniatures I'm most interested in now are Reaper, GW and Confrontation. I thought the Confrontation miniatures were a bit pricey myself, but sadly after purchasing three miniatures from GW the other day without checking the prices and being it for nearly $40 for just the three, I've come to realize the decent GW are just as damn expensive.

Right now on my pallet I've got a 1985 GW Chaos Sorcerer that I'm painting up that I think looks damn good and will hopefully be finishing up in the next day or two and posting somewhere for some ego bashing (bleh). After that I've got Boregut Facebeater (Black Orc) a Skaven Grey Seer and some Gobbo's and Squigs to paint up. After that I need to delve back into my forty or so miniatures and finish them up before the wife beheads me.

I think when its all said and done, what I will likely do is ebay all but a few of my paint jobs except for a few personal favorites as the wife will kill me if I start racking them up all over the place. Not really worried about making '$$$$' off them, more along the lines of just selling them for the cost (more would be great, don't get me wrong) of the miniature so I can buy some more to paint.

Above I mentioned scenery and although I haven't gotten into that as much as I could, I think I'm going to go get a hot knife and a hot wire along with some other bits and pieces and see what I can come up with. Wife will hate it, but I'll keep it small and have a good time at it. Thinking about buying the Citadel Scenery book for the hell of it (waste of money?)

Anyhow, I've babbled and bobbeled all over here. I probably won't be a huge contributor to the boards but I'll be in the background checking things out and popping out from time to time.

I really like the way you paint, it's quite amazing.

Say, when are we going to have another painting competition around here? (just like the last one that i won 3rd place in (Y) )

Thanks for the warm welcome fellows, and for the comments on the paiting there.

Yeah, finding time to paint is kind of difficult, especially when I've got the family around but I've rectified that by buying some cheaper models and letting the kids get in there and make a mess painting them right beside me (some of their color schemes are hillarious).

As for the Eldars and that bit, yup, I'll drop on in there here one of these nights. I've been perusing the forums and will drop in on them here on the quick.

BTW, I just gobbled up a load of squigs at the store and am picking up that very funny 'squig hound' off of ebay and painting up a load of the buggers - now I just have to figure out a color scheme.

Anyhow, thanks again for the welcome!
