Welcome to Librarium Online!
My name is Dan, 26 years old from Derbyshire, England. I am new to the hobby, having been shown the light by my cousin last weekend. I'm keen to get into the hobby, but before jumping straight I thought it wise to get on a forum with other players, and out of the top picks, this site looked the best on offer.
I will probably spend the next week building up on my knowledge of the armies available for each genre, as I would like to dabble in both, fantasy and 40k. Just thought I would say hello, and I look forward to getting involved with the community in the near future.
Thankyou for reading.
But its probably out of those three for me at the moment.
My cousin collects Tau and Nids.

So you'll be leaping into 40k then rather than Fantasy (boo-hiss). All good, it's a fairly easy game to get to grips with, more so than Fantasy I reckon anyway. The rules just seem a little 'easier' to me... Not that that means they're bad though!!!
Ah..... Star ship troopers. Awesome Cheesefest that that film is!! I've done many an Imperial Guard army based off the films and even the animated series too!! Christ knows where either of those armies are thinking about it...... Sounds good either way.
Have you been to the local GW yet? Played/painted?
Yeah I played a game of each at my local GW store. I loved both games, but they are completely different. I haven't got any models, as I wanted to spend some time looking around before making the plunge. I am planning on going to store later today, to have another look around, but those 3 armies are probably going to be the ones I choose.
I am just as interested in fantasy as 40K. I am looking at Empire, Vampire Counts and also possibly Beastmen.
I like the look of the Empire units, the majority of them have a historic feel about them from our own history. Vampires look fun with the skeleton and zombies, plus the fact I can raise more units has an appeal. Beastmen also look quite fun, but I dunno if they are an army which will just get battered left, right and centre.,
Update for everyone:
I have decided that Necrons will be my first army. I love the models so much. They remind me so much of Terminators and I love that about them. The GW staff recommended them also, which helped spur me on to get the Codex. They told me, that they help me learn to paint, as they are amongst the easiest to try painting on. I was almost persuaded, easily I miht add to buy my first novel too,Fall of Damnos. I'm told to read the book first to truly benefit from the codex. So I will do as they recommend.
I look forward to getting some kind of blog going once I start building my army, so people can view my work and comment on it as the army progresses.
Thanks for reading
Good luck dude. Necrons are a cool looking army and MrGW was right in that they're an easy army to paint and learn techniques on. Can't help you with the army and game play though as I haven't even read the Army book yet........... I've been busy with Fantasy!!!
