Hey, Warhammer 40k is playable on anything from carpet floors to dining room tables. Of course it is alot better with scenery and makes the game so much more interesting.

Points in 40k is part of the basics, my reccomendation would be to buy the Warhammer 40,000 rule book with your first box of Chaos Marines. Eventually you will want to buy the codex to learn more about your choice of army and detailed stories about there past and present. The codex and Rule Book are the first things you need to start writing your army lists, but i wont go into that now.

Im glad to see another person that doesnt go for space marines straight away (normally this is the choice of little kids looking for big strong men ).

As for where to start, you have that pretty much sorted, its good to start with a box of basic troops and work your way up.

If you want any more questions answered just PM me

You'll also need some paints. I would suggest that when you go to get your box you ask the guy in the shop if you can have a look at the rulebook and codex, he'll probably be able to explain things to you then and there, most GW staff are quite helpful.

You may consider watching several games or going to a tourney before buying anything. It would be a great opportunity to spot other armies in action and then you could get a bit of the play down as well...

Eh..by the rulebook, then watch a game before buying your first army.Plus make sure you at least take a look at each army.It really sucks to start an army and then see something else you didn't notice beofre and think "damn is shoulda started with them".

aaa the 1800 doller canadian boy huh now im not sure if I can stop you in time but if you have other modles PRACTICE YOUR PAINTING ON THEM FIRST!!!!!!

O and I would start your lords right away because you might wanna do conversions. O and if you want any ideas for any type of conversions think MINOR DETAILS! Just use small amounts of green stuff and not huge things. I tryed huge conversions and they do not work well unless its very planed out.

A conversion idea (this is what im doing) is after I did reserch on marines I noticed i love Space Wolves but I love Chaos marines so I did more reserch the month and found tzneetch were enemy of space wolfs than just relizing yesterday thet Black legion was "Luna Wolves" I decided, its time for some Space Wolf corsair army! Now I'm not sure if that will give you any ideas but its a very simple idea you can follow.

Lol the plastic cement is for plastic :hmm: try using super glue for the metal models, this may still take a long time to stick but its the only decent glue for metal. And if you make sure that the two edges you are glueing are clean (try lightly filing them) its easier to glue aswell...
