I'm from Sweden and I've just recently started to collect an Imperial Guard army and got me some troops (battleforce). I've painted 10 units and 1 tank so far and I'm getting better and better.
Just got my eyes on Iron warriors, ordered a squad of those. love the fluff and looks.
Fluff ftw, fun ftw, powergame ftl.
Welcome to LO.
Piece of advice, its all to easy to get distracted away from your current army to go chasing after other GW miniatures. As a rule of thumb try to restrain yourself from buying other armies until you have at least 1500 pts of your previous one. I know IG can be a hassle for people to paint that many guys though and many players give up on them.
Yeah man, don't do what I did. OOOOOOOOOOo I want to play space marines, I'll have to get some. spends$$$$ But wait, those Imperial Guard are pretty cool, I'll try them instead. spends$$$$ OOOOOps now I'm interested in the TAU, maybe a squad of firewarriors. Spends$$$$ Cooool Daemonhunters, gotta get a few of those. Spends$$$$$ WAIT A MINUTE, I GUESS I LIKE LIKE SPACE MARINES AFTER ALL!!! Spends more cash$$$$ and lives happily ever after, and with a load of bitz.

Hope you'll enjoy you stay here. And I've got to agree with LordLink collect at least 1500pts before starting anything else. Jag också är från sverige, bara så du vet.

As for acquiring new armies before having finished your previous one, I can recommend building Kill Teams instead; Kill Teams give you the opportunity to convert and paint some of those awesome figures you just gotta own without forcing you to live off oatmeal for months on end in order to afford an entire army. I think I've got more Kill Teams that I got figures in my regular army by now, and I like how they enable me to test new ideas and designs relatively cheaply and still be able to use them in actual games.
In any case, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here at the forum. Have fun!

hey everyone! i havent been playing that long been collecting around 3 months but taking my time with everything (not to mention being sidetracked by amazing BL books ) but i have to agree you shouldnt even THINK about your next army till you finish the first cos as soon as you think about it you think about it more n more until your current army has lost interest and you NEED a new one (I havent been victim to this but have learnt from someone else who has a 600pt necron army, 1000 space wolf army and is talking about ANOTHER new army!) its just too expensive trap to fall into (abit like 40k itself ) plus alot of people who "army hop" lose intrest in the game quickly. i just really like my Nid's
Its conversations like this that make me wish I could eat out my own asshole and so I could run away and join a freak show
you know lil-elf you are allowed to start your own introduction thread rather than introduce yourself in someone elses.
I have 1 friend who has 1000 points of tau, is so bored with them hes not interested in the new codex, 1000 points of necrons which he is very interested in but won't improve it due to now spending money on the metal grey knights.
Not to mention another player who has swapped between orks, chaos, Space Marines, different marines, chaos, Space Wolves, chaos and lizardmen repeatedly and has very little of any of them due to indecision.
Don't fall into the trap, make sure you are happy with what you choose and stick with it.
