I'm a new member here, and tell ya what it feels good. THis forum is very helpful. And fun. Ever since i saw the 40k display at the Metreon, i was hooked. I've got one firewarrior box, one crisis suit, one cadian shock troop box, one leman russ, one 40k starter paint set, and a rhino. I love to paint! Haven't learned the rules yet, though. Not planning to for another few months. That is, once i finish my miniatures. Then i can get the starter box and get to playin! Are the rules really that complicated for a 13-year old to remember?
hi, im 16, i got a slugga boy and a shoota boy and the orc codex from my friend last month and ever since i have been reading the codex like crazy....orks are great but i need to learn how to play...supposedly the rules r very hard to all remeber thats y the rulebook is like 2-3 inches thick! im a newb like u but i enjoy this site and the people here r great about all the newbs...thanks guys.
long live sabbath!
GundamFan the guys you have are from different armies. The Fire warriors and the crisis suit are from Tau, the Rhino is Space Marines and Daemonhunters, and the Cadians and the Leman Russ are Imperial Guard. pick one to start, The rules are pretty easy if you read them a few times.
YO GUNDAMFAN! WHERE DO YOU LIVE!
I GO TO THE METREON!
DO YOU LIVE IN DAVIS!?
I WANT TO FACE YOU OFF SOMETIME!
or you might live in san francisco.
fugazi, nah the rulebook is only about 1 inch thick if that, and besides only about 1/10th of it is stuff you need to know, not really that hard to get a grasp, just read a section a night, and if you can't remember the rules the next day, read the section again, you'll have it in a few weeks.
Most of the rulebook is fluff and pictures.
It tells you the history of the 40K universe about the imperium of man, the xenos (aliens) and it's got the army lists (which you only really have to remember 1, and you don't even need those since you've got the codex) then there's information about the warp (chaos) and a bunch of other stuff. It's just a matter of dedicating a week or so to flipping through, usually if you're stuck or your just not getting it, reread the chapter, and you'll get it.
and gundamfan, welcome and enjoy, and yeah you probably should have flipped through the army lists before picking up minis because those are from different armies, though it doesn't hurt to get a look at what the finished products will look like, or how hard they are to paint.

Yeah i knew they were from different armies. I thought they looked cool and it would be nice to paint them, because when i got them i was planning on painting them. Well, i have 3 mini armies and i can have little battles with them if i learn the rules! I live in Redwood City, btw.
I just couldn't choose which army, they were all so cool. Lol. I didn't expect i would actually get interested in playing the game. But i've read that the rulebook has hobby info and history and stuff.
Welcome man, one of the best ways to learn the rules i found is just to jump right into a game after you read the rules once. The game will last for ages (all that looking up) but it does help you to remember them. Anyways enjoy your say.
P.S. you dont have to have one message after another. On the little blue bar on the top of your posts there is an edit button. Use that , we dont want you getting hit with the mod stick of doom.
