Ok, for some reason I just thought I'd post this up and see how it went. It's very simple, one person creates a scenario in which go set the story and then starts by saying "the good news is....." And gives some good news in the story, which is then counteracted by the next poster, who will say "the bad news is...." And give something bad which would nullify the good news. The next poster must find some good news to overcome the bad news, and so forth.
So, the scenario is that you are a guardsman in a regiment sent to reclaim a strategically important world from the orks which infest it. The good news is your section has drawn non-combatant duties got the first month.
The bad news is that your doctor is Sergeant Gregory House and he wants to do a brain biopsy with a wooden stick, just to be sure it's functioning properly.
The good news is that Dr House gets killed by an overzealous commissary for "loitering with intent to use a zebra crossing", and so he is replaced by a less unorthodox doctor.
The bad news is Gregory House was not actually killed, and he's come back to get this unorthodox doctor and everyone in the hospital as revenge for attempted murder.
The good news is that you befriended a reckless smuggler in a bar on world and conveniently you come across him again and he offers you passage offworld.
The bad news is (well, Johnnysd was clearly pushing for it) that the ship was previously called the heart of gold and had been stolen by Zaphod Beeblebrox. So the police are still looking for you I'm afraid.
The good news is that the police think you are an old wrinkly grandmother with a walking cane and a bright pink mohawk, and not an seksually abused, cursed(how else can you explain all of this?), ex Guardsman.
The good news is that 23/25 of the retirees in that home are dead (they haven't been bothered to clean them up yet) so you've got the retirement home to all yourself and...
The bass news is that you realize you've been asleep in a bunker still on the front lines and you are surrounded by the corpses of your fallen comrades.
The bad news is that your squad was on a training exercise when attacked so all the rounds are blanks.
