Welcome to Librarium Online!
A couple of times now I've made a poll with a length of 90 days (if it was up to me it wouldn't have a close date, but I know that the rules say no.) and each time a mod has posted saying they had to add a close date. I saw one other poster say that he thought he did add one. Perhaps there's a problem the admins should look for?
Strange. I followed your lead and made a poll with a closing date of 90 days, only to have the closing date fail to show. I did the same thing with 30 days (in case the problem was somehow tied to extended close times). Again, no show.
Let's wait for Mister Blackhat and see what he has to say.

the close date should be reasonable, what do you need a poll to be open for 90 days for?
because it's not like this is the busiest forum around and sometimes you want as many votes as possible for the question youre asking
Glad to see I'm not crazy and there is actually a problem. (Well not glad they're a problem, but you know.)
Why not have an endless poll? Unless it's something extremely topical I see no reason why someone who wanted info from a poll would want it to ever close, really. In my case it was a poll to see what Ork clans people played. Surly as more people joined or perused the ork forums there would be people who would vote, for quite a while. Like I said, I'll obey the rule, although I will peacefully disagree. ( Though I understand if it has something to do with the technical aspect of the forums, like bogging it down with data)
Then you've got the issue of poorly made polls. Poor questions, poor answer choices, or just a poor thread in general; without closing dates, these polls would also stick around forever (hypothetically speaking), and you can't really stop someone from posting a horrible poll. All you can do is force them to put a closing date on it and pray that time flies by!
While I can understand a very few polls that can remain without a closing date, the overwhelming majority NEED to have that closing date, or the overall forum quality begins to falter. When that happens, LO will cease to be the forum it is today (which is extraordinarily high quality compared to most other tabletop forums).
Better safe than sorry is a rule I think we can all abide.
I see. I was not aware a vote brought the poll back up, Other forums I've been on don't bump the thread when the poll is voted.
Still though, I don't think 90 days is excessive.
yeah the same thing has happened to me on numerous occasions

Hey BlackHat, it seems that polls are still not showing a closing date. Only after I go in and manually edit the poll to include a closing date does it show.
