I don't know if this is the right place to ask this so i'm sorry if it's not but what i'd like to know is how do you get medals and become a veteran, have you gotta post x amount of times or have x amount of rep? And that kinda lnks in with my next question. Can you use rep for anything? What is it for? And what about credits can you do anthing with them?
Uh, I'm not 100% all your questions so I'll answer what I know. This post is fine here I think.
Medals are not related to rep or the number of posts or anything else like that. If you hover your mouse over the medals a text box will appear telling you what that specific medal is for. Usually they are for painting, winning a competition of scenery building or a votewar. There are also "Most..." medals like "Most helpful mod" or something like that. There are plenty of veteran members without a single medal, so it's not a judgement of how long you've been a part of LO or how much rep you have.
Veteran status is granted once you have attained 5 green bars. Following the first 5, the bars are then a lighter shade of green and you will of course have a veteran badge. You can see how much rep you have in the "Settings" page, underneath your subscribed threads. I'm not sure on the exact number of rep you must achieve to reach veteran status.
The number underneath is how much rep you give when you rep someone. The more rep you have (and more posts) the more you have to reward to others.
Benefits of rep? I haven't noticed any I think my signature has a slighty larger character limit but other than that... The mods are the ones with additional powers of sorcery and stuff, but it's wise not to talk to much about their mysterious and dangerous kind and their leader, known only as the wielder of black hats is a best left only to the imagination
Being a part of LO isn't about having heaps of rep though, being helpful and friendly to make others feel welcome and you'll be treated the same. Helping others in their hobby so that they can help you in return, regardless of whether your hobby is gaming, painting or modelling. It's less about some members being "higher" than others, but more about recognising and rewarding effort in helping others. But I'm sure you already know that
Check the rep sticky to discover all you need to know.
If someone helps you, rep them.
In a votewar you don't vote on a single match, you vote on the entire round. Got that?
Sorry my questions weren't to clear, i was just a bit confised about a few things but i understand it now thank you .

I know this is a bit old, but I felt the need to clarify a few things.
Veteran status is achieved when you have 500 rep (5 green bars, as Cannibal God said) but also you have to have been signed up for a year or more. Medals are for special services or achievements like painting awards, 'nicest mod', 'community award' etc. They are given out by the mod team specifically to individuals. As to the benefits of rep, well it just gives you a nice sense of achievement and makes you feel good about your contributions to the forum Also people will recognise you more cause you have loads of green bars below your username.
