I did have 619 rep points and my rep power was 26, then my rep power became 619, then both that and my rep points dropped down to 49! whats going on???
Rep stuff has changed http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ml#post1894323 (Reputation System Updates)
I used to have enormous rep power because I've been on the forum forever
My blog - http://wingsofsanguinius.blogspot.com
Been here nearly 10 years and still haven't managed 500 posts.
I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to change, but I miss those big numbers right now. Not that it really made much of a difference to me before beyond making me feel like I "leveled up" from time to time.
The goal with "deflating" the numbers is to make it a more level playing ground. Wielding 500+ rep power really skewed the system. Plus once you get to 10,000+ rep points it stops feeling like an achievement when you get another 250.
I can definitely understand that it feels like being demoted, but all the scores for everyone were scaled down at the same ratio.
Well, the main reason that I think the new system is leaps better than the old is that each point now has more impact, and even new players now give a (relatively) larger amount of rep. So it encourages helping new users.
Ie: in the old system, a long-term user might give 100 points, as opposed to the new users' meager 3 points. So it encouraged an insular community, where a user was better rewarded trying to gain rep from old timers over newbies. Not that I don't anybody really consciously did that, but it was how we were rewarded.
