i don't want to be given bad rep because i am bad at spelling, and i would like for someone to do something about it.
i just don't think it is fair lo is not a spelling contest, and the rep system has nothing to do with bad spelling
You might want to be more specific if you want others to understand your problem. I understand that you are given bad rep for bad spelling/grammar, and that it makes you feel unwelcome here on LO? If that is the case, I understand why you are upset. If you are given bad rep for your english, eventhough you do the best you can, I can imagine that it is discouraging you from discussing your hobby with us here on LO, and that is a shame. Just try to put a lottle more effort into your posts, and use the spell checker in google toolbar as I pointed out for you earlier, and you should be fine
I am not someone who gives out bad rep for spelling errors. Neither am i someone who can restore unwarranted bad rep.
My suggestion is this:
Type your responses in MS Word (or whichever word processor you are most comfortable with), run the spelling and grammer check, then copy and paste the corrected response into the reply text box.

You are correct that Librarium Online is not a spelling contest, and I actually presumed that native speakers of the English language would cut others some slack; after all, they don’t speak our languages half as well as we do theirs (eller tager jeg helt fejl? Det kan da være de alle taler perfekt dansk, i hvilket fald jeg nok skal trække min udtalelse tilbage. ) However, we also have some rules stating that we prefer members to do their best not to abuse the English language with ‘leet’ and by ignoring every rule on capital letters and punctuation in the book, and these rules we all have to respect or our forum would quickly degenerate into an unreadable mess.Originally Posted by [*NoCo*]
I would very much like to look further into this case for you. Can you please send me or post here a link to the post for which you were badrepped? I would like to read it for myself to justify possibly having the badrep deleted from your rep score.
In the meantime, I would also recommend that you use a spell checker such as the one found in the MSWord program. I acknowledge the fact that I am not a native speaker of English either, and make good use of this program to check my grammar and spelling before posting on the board. It even automatically corrects capital letters, and most other members seem to appreciate my using two minutes and a bit of effort to improve my posts. Remember that online, all people can see of you is your writing, so it usually pays off to be a little careful with it.

Why should you not recieve it? People do not want to read a peice of work that is near unreadable and nor should they have to. LO does in fact have rules or guidelines about spelling and grammar, yes we understand not everyone is English but then most countries now days have lessons in English from an early age (or so I understand); so the excuse is less viable.
It does not take long to put your post into a work progam to check upon the spelling or grammar, so in future I suggest you do such a thing. This will lead to people not giving you bad rep and make your posts a whole lot easier to understand.
Oh and there is no need for a post like this, rep is there for people to show their appreication - not to complain and whine when someone gives them bad rep. You get good rep so be prepared to get bad rep. Look upon this as a chance to improve your writing skills, you never know you may get good rep for a well spelt thread.
