I am very unhappy about the links. I have tried to put a link to my site, but you, the Mod Team, forbade it.
*Don't think this post in an accusing manner*
Is it not right to let me share a forum with the others, and possibly with you? I mean, forums are forums. People who have only interest in High Elves, for example, should be better off at Asur, and not here.
Asur might have an own domain, but I find it doubtful why to forbid Invisonfree forum advertisiments. As if we did something wrong, getting a free hosted forum. We're all the same.
I would doubt, if there weren't any other Forums, including the GW website, that this forum would have kicked so far without them.
There should be a good relation between forums. Not an aggressive one. There is no competition; just sharing thoughts. It's about the hobby; not about how many members or posts you have. Please accept this bidding, to remove it, since it is not a problem not to have Invisionfree forum imagelinks/links in the signature.
Do you really think a member should go through this link and say: 'Wow, jeez, this is the best forum ever! I'll stay here forever and let that LO be damned'. No way, even I am on plenty of forums, and active too. I think others do the same. And I still am on here, Asrai, Bloodkeep, 40K Online and my own, to name a few.
I'm just trying to get the ocmmunities together. It doesn't work though, with this restrictment.
I find this very sad, for others and myself that can't share their thoughts about a forum, and I would like this 'restrictment' to be removed.

To my knowledge we don’t censor links here at Librarium Online, we only ask that people do not spam our forum with advertisements for other forums. In the past we’ve had a problem with some people creating forums of their own and trying to attract other members by more or less spamming here, and spamming is never accepted here on LO.
However, it is clearly stated in the rules that you are free to link to whatever forum you want in your signature, as long as the forum is not unsuitable for younger members and you are not disrespectful to LO in an attempt to have people switch to your forum exclusively. Posting a link in your signature saying ‘High Elves? Visit Asur here!’ would be entirely acceptable, and that way you’d even be advertising in all of your post instead of just one.
Please respect our no-spam policy, then we’ll respect your freedom of speech.

Yes we do censor certain forums, this is a built in ad/site blocker feature. It has occured in that past that member will create a forum to spam LO or flame it and that have you, whilst this may not be your intention it cannot be removed without the invision sites being removed from the blocker. That I am unsure if the admin will be willing to do.
Otherwise we only ask members to avoid posting links to other forums in posts, and this is too all forums not just invison. In sigs it is fine, in fact I have an invision link in mine.. I do not know why you're does not work (or if mine doesn't).
I see no reason to get communities together. It is good to have some good friendly conflict. Plus if someone finds a forum better than this one (IMO, unlikely) then we will start loosing members. Thats no fun for anyone. But if you want to suggest another forum to someone just PM them! Not that hard.
Back from a long adventure.
I didn't want to chime in here at all but KU, your invision link in your sig does not work. It is censored and I receive a 404 when I try to access it. So, it appears all invision ones are covered by the ad blocker feature you mention.Originally Posted by King Ulrik Flamebeard
I hope that the blocker really isn't necessary. My Anarchy Online clan uses an invision forum, and if I wanted to advertise it in my sig, I wouldn't be able to.
The only way around this I know of is to get a free hosting site, create a site, and put some html code in that does a redirect. I've used that before, but for a different reason.
All that would mean would be that LO got pwned by a better forum and should improve in order to stay afloat. I don't see anything wrong in competition, eh?if someone finds a forum better than this one (IMO, unlikely) then we will start loosing members
Also, you can register a domain on a non-blocked host and put up a redirect page there. Not anywhere difficult.
I think this 'ad/site blocker' feature doesn't work as needed. Your link too, King Ulrik Flamebeard, doesn't work, and I doubt you would spam the website. Also, there are 10s, if not 100s, of forums hosted on Invisionfree who have doen nothing to you.
IP banning works much more subtle and doesn't upset members. IP banning let's you ban that person who's spamming, and will never be able to return/sign up with another e-mail adress and name.
Looking towards that, I think IP banning is the best solution here.
*PS: you got actually 2 kinds of Warhammer sites/forums: forums which are only about one system, one race; and you got ones which discuss about a variety of systems, and many races. I think my Vampire Counts forum is in no way comparable to LO. LO get's probably more posts and members; mine probably gets focused answers.
Is there anyway, if the Admin doesn't want to lift that ad-block up, how I can link to my forum? I heard of the Redirect, but I'm confused about the explanation.
I have to purchase a domain as well, if I want one. I have no reason yet to pay for it, since it's small and just about the hobby.*
You don't have to buy a domain, DynDns got great ones for free.
As for IP-banning, it's what most spammers get when we find them, but, IP-banning isn't 100% trustfull as a persons IP can change, and IIRC the most common connections uses dynamic IPs which means that IP changes.
And to tell you the truth, I doubt that the invisionfree ban will be removed as we had a lot of troubles with people that uses them. But don't blame the LO admins for that, blame the punks that spammed.
I might have sound a bit harsh before, but I was so disappointed at first
Now, I feel much better! This world is great!
Thanks for helping out!
