I think that something a lot of members would appreciate is a spell check option in the posting text box so we no longer get:
a)people like the guy who posted here a while ago who feel ashamed to go online because they make many mistakes and get bad rep.
b)Illegible posts (that some people can apparently read  ) would become less common (theres nothing more frustrating then trying to read a illegible post)
and it would probably be do-able because it's not too complicated ( I think )

Last time I checked there was a spellchecker lying around, but I cant find it at present. Ho hum...
If in doubt, just C&P into word and spellcheck it, and then C&P back.
Or just learn to spell correctly first time. Its not that hard.
"It fits like clothes made out of wasps!"
Or use google toolbar, it has a built in spell checker.
Oh i didn't put this up for me i got a level 4 for spelling #looks proud# i just think that if your trying to post it would be easier to have it on site rather than have to enter word and as for the toolbar there are reports of huge virus problems from something like that (no offense sareld)
NOTE: I'm not trying to peeve of anybody by continuing this thread but i really want to get this message across!
God so angry at you,( zeus are you trying to say something about my spelling:ninja: ? Gah, ARGH.:w00t:  I am just kidding. We do have a spell checker but you have to download a explorer adapter I believe, and given Microsoft's track record, I avoid downloading anything from them other than necessary stuff, like closing security breaches within the Explorer program.:closedeye Because when you get a virus you feel like this:hump: except with more disgust and shock.
Sorry lictor it sounded like you but i was actually referencing someone who posted in this sub-forum about getting bad rep for bad spelling!Originally Posted by LictorInTheGrass
I don't see why people don't take the time to learn to spell. It seems like whenever i read a post there is at least 1 person whos is riting lik carp or something... So spellcheck> no spellcheck, but giving bad rep to someone who doesn't spell well< being a good person. Unless when you ask the person nicely to take more time in spelling and he is like ROFL PWN U sutpdi nobo! Haaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh. But o well enchanced members should no better not to detract from someones rep becuase of spelling. At least i hope they do.....
Back from a long adventure.
well apparently some don't (as mean as it is. ) and i want something done about it as i have some very upset buddies about bad rep from spelling and because of it they have begun to stop visiting L.O. and this is dissapointingOriginally Posted by theredkitty
At least make it against the rules to bad rep. people for spelling! (please)
As long as you understand whats being said in the post its ok and a few spelling mistakes should not be a problem for anyone.
You should also consider that this is an international forum with people from all kinds of countries and giving bad rep just because of a spelling mistakes is not very polite and should be reported to mods or admins.

I've never given negative rep. to anyone for spelling, grammar, etc., however I would like to comment about the amount of... internet talk? I guess you could call it that.
That, though I don't give negative rep. for it, is something I look down upon. How hard is it to spell "you," as opposed to simply "u?" The same goes for a heck of a lot of things, and really, it's a forum, people. You have plenty of time to make a post, and it isn't too hard to make sure most things are correct yourself.
Just a helpful hint. ^_^ If you type horrendously and your post is nearly unreadable, you aren't going to be taken that seriously. I don't care if it takes me twenty minutes to make a post - I'd rather have it able to be read than to get it out there quickly.
I understand things such as the fact that people are from different countries and I respect them very much; however, it's obvious that many of them know a fair amount of English, and I've noticed that it's people simply having horrible posts, such as the whole "you - u" issue and other instances like it, and not exactly bad spelling/grammar. It's the "internet speak" that I get tired of.
I don't care if you mis-spell a word - everyone does it, and there are a fair amount of typo's. However, it is a forum, and you can read through everything you just typed to find errors, etc. - there's even an "edit" function for each and every one of your posts that you can use to go back and edit your post if you find something else wrong with it. It shouldn't be too hard to keep your posts at least readable. ^_^
That's my two cents .... even though I didn't actually contribute money. :shifty:
