    Firefox Crashes

I access your site primarily through FreeBSD and Linux using Firefox. Today, for the first time ever, however, every time I try to access your site, Firefox crashes, dies, kaput. (I'm using Galeon, a Mozilla descendent like Firefox, at the moment.)

I use a Firefox extension called "adblock". In the past, when a website is taking ads from particular vendors, especially ads that create popups in particular ways and/or use Flash while doing so, adblock crashes Firefox while trying to block the ad. It's never regular, and does appear to be entirely dependent on the ads being served by the website.

I don't know if this is what is happening right now, but ... well, since I can use another browser very similar to Firefox ... has LO just started taking on a different set of ads in the last 24 hours or so?

ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I too use Firefox, but just this afternoon while trying to access LO, my browser crashes every time and I'm forced to use IE just to get access! However, I'm not using adblock, but weirdly, when I access using IE, I get this strange Java Script prompt that pops up. This slows everything down and I have to close it before I can carry on using the forum.

    Anyone know what's happening?

I use both FireFox and adblock and I haven't had this problem. I'd suggest updating FireFox if you're not using the most uptodate version (current is 1.5 iirc).

If you use the beta version of adblock that might be whats causing problems.

If its a problem with LO I cant really help though

I have just had the same problem, when loading up the site firefox freezes and crashes. I am not using adblock, and have the very latest version of firefox. It seems to be working at the moment anyway, but this has only struck in the last few minutes and is first time I've had any kind of problem using this site.

The site runs fine here. We have had some problems with a trojan called wonka, but I have removed it now. We also dont like that our users block the ads here at LO.

    Advertising Network Problems

We were having some problems with one of our advertising networks.

It was slowing down firefox and loading viruses for IE users.

    It has been disabled.

    Everthing should work fine now.

I use IE and I've been getting trojan warnings. It's happening less frequently now, but I'm still getting them. I posted this problem in the 'Virus on LO' thread.

Whatever you guys did, I'm just happy that I can be using my favorite web browser again. Thanks!

(FYI: I don't block any of the adds or popups on LO. I like seeing geek- and gamer-related ads.)
