Welcome to Librarium Online!
I designed this list with the idea of using hard hitting units and fear to break units and then overrun them. I tried it tonight and came up against a khemri army - totally immune to psychology and unbreakable >.< I lost badly. I'm hoping the list will do ok against other foes though, here it is. What do you think?
Scar-vet - BSoItzl + Sotek, LA, shield, spear, rides a cold one
BSB - BSoTepok + Chotec, LA, totem of prophecy
Skink priest - 2 x scroll
3 x 10 skinks
9 CoR - full command, Hunchai's blessed totem
6 CoR - musician
6 CoR - musician
21 Saurus - full command, BSoChotec
All comments welcome
A very interesting army list i like to see people who do things differently. As for my comments on this list would be with all those fast moving men dont you think they'll drag behind? And may i ask why units of 10 skinks? Now i havent used salamanders before but to me its will they repay they're points with they're shooting? Since many of your units are fast? I would've made those skinks scouts to hasle the enemy before your fear guys hit. and if its a fear based army why not grab a stegadon? sorry for all the questions its what i do when i make an army list hope i helped and good luck.
1:find what makes him tick
2:stop the ticking
Thanks for the thoughts
The saurus unit did seem to lag behind a little, but not so much that my army was completely disjointed. The main problem I had was not being able to break the undead units. I beat a skeleton block by +9 CR but all it did was kill another 9 skellies >.< Usually I would get the outnumber + fear with the totem of prophecy and then the BSoChotec would allow me to roll an extra dice for the pursue and choose the highest two. That was the plan anyway =P
As a rule I always take a unit of salamanders in my armies. In roughly 150 games with the lizardmen they are (along with jungle swarms) my number one all time star unit. Now the jungle swarms have retired to the shelf with the new 7th edition swarm rule I feel I owe it to the sallies to give them a place in my list. Oh yeah, and they always come up trumps for me, they do a helluva lot of damage and can be a real headache for the opponent
Maybe one option would be to combine the two smaller units of CoR to have another sledgehammer unit? A unit of 12 shouldn't have too much trouble winning combat against most units and with a US of 24 and fear it might just work.
Good idea with the skinks as scouts. I could upgrade one unit but I think I'll keep at least two back so as I don't lose too many CoR to early game shooting. They only have a 3+ save after all >.<
Hrm...with that many CoR's...maybe Kroq-gar deserves a look? Just an idea.
I love the carnisaur model personally. I'm not sure if an army with one in it would be as competitve as one without it, but it would definately be fun to play.
I think you would do well to give a banner to the 6 COR. But then that's just me, you may feel that they do well enough without.
Definatly need one unit of skinks to scout.
I am sorry to say that undead do not break. They simply crumble. The guy I play most has Vampire Counts and shows up with units of zombies. BIG ones. He shows up with 50-80 models on the table and another 40 in a summoning reserve. The way to best them is to either go for the general or just keep crumbling them.
Against anything else, I think it will do well. I do have one question. How do you rank up your saurs? obviously the BSB runs with them.
The saurus rank up 5x4 with two guys tagging along behind. The unit was originally 19 but I had some points spare and I thought it wouldn't hurt to stick a couple more in, all goes to help with the outnumber!
Good reasoning. Although, I don't usually see saurs outnumbering most armies. Maybe dwarves or MSU armies, but not much else. The fact is that our models are a bit more expensive to build up size.
This may go against what you're trying for, but you might opt for Spawning of Sotek instead. 22 attacks might dwindle their numbers a bit more and give you the upper hand. Of course it's only on the charge, but then you loose the BS of choctec.
It looks likes it's done pretty well. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.
