My current opponent plays Orcs & Goblins with 1 Shaman, giant, chariot, ballista, and then 6 or 7 blocks of Orcs & Goblins. Thus far I have been able to sit back and pepper him with skinks, magic, and salamanders and wait for him to rush forward to counter-attack with the Krox, Cold Ones, and Saurus. It has worked very well for me thus far. What I am interested in is what will happen when I take this army out and play other people? Is the army specialized towards just beating this opponent/army list or can it stand up to different armies? I have just started playing Fantasy and this has been my only opponent so far. All comments and criticisms welcome. Thanks in advance for the advice.
Nice and varied list with lots of options. I would swap the BSoQuetzl for the BSoTlazcotl on the Slann's bodyguard though.
If I take a Slann it's always 2nd Gen I think he is well worth the extra points for all the free dice you get, but then you would have to drop a unit of sallies (and two units are nasty) so it's a tough one
Let us know how it fares (Y)
Well, we played on Sunday and once again it was pretty much over by turn 3. With all of his big blocks of troops he had to deploy across his entire zone. So toward the end of deployment I started putting everything on my right side, away from his chariot and Black orcs(which were deployed on my left side). With all my skirmishers I was able to move my entire left flank toward the middle and shift my entire army toward the right side(who says Lizards are slow!!). I just started taking him apart one unit at a time with magic, skinks, and sallies. Began with the right-most unit and worked toward the center.
So the army seems to work well against armies with big blocks of CC troops and not much missle fire/magic. I know that not all armies are like that however. What I am wondering is how you all think it will fare against other types of armies i.e. Dwarf/Empire gunlines, Elven missle armies, etc.? As I said in the OP this is my first time playing Fantasy and my only opponent thus far. I don't want to create a list that will specifically beat him and then get slaughtered by some other opponent. I would appreciate any thoughts on that topic that you all have. Thanks in advance.
