    2250p. Magic list

Could use some help with my 2250p. Slann list.

    Lords/Heroes

    Slann
    + The Focused Rumination
    + Focus of Mystery
    + The Becalming Cogination
+ Cupped Hands of the Old Ones
    + BSB
    = 445p.

    Skink Priest
    + Level 2
    + Plaque of Tepok
    + Dispel Scroll
    + Engine of the Gods
    = 430p.

    Scar-Veteran
    + Great weapon
    + Light armor
    + Shield
+ Charm of the Jaguar Warrior
    = 119p.

    Scar-Veteran
    + Cold One
    + Enchanted Shield
    + Light Armour
    + Blade of Chotec
    = 145p.

    Core
    20 Saurus
    + Spears
    = 230p.

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    Special
    16 Temple Guard
    + Champion
    + Musician
    = 277p.

    4 Kroxigors

    5 Saurus Cavalry

    = 2246p.

What needs to be done? Thing is, at the place I'm currently playing, all armies are actively played, so I need a good cover-all list. It's done well so far, but I haven't played Empire, Undead (any of them), Dwarfs, Orcs or Dark Elves yet, and I seriously need to beat Daemons (Bloodthirster!)

    Cheers

I think he is a little to pricey. I would drop the bane head for sure. Probably the cupped hands as well or the cogitation, one of these should be sufficient. Play dangerously.

    Skink Priest
    + Level 2
    + Diadem of Power
    + Engine of the Gods
You are going for offense so drop the diadem for the plaque of tepok and a scroll-well you need some defense.

    Scar-Veteran

    + Great weapon
    + Light armor
    + Shield
+ Charm of the Jaguar Warrior

    Scar-Veteran
    + Cold One
    + Enchanted Shield
    + Light Armour
    + Glyph Necklace

    Core
    20 Saurus
    + Spears
    + Standard Bearer
    + Champion

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    Special
    16 Temple Guard
    + Full Command+ Curse-Charm of Tepok

    5 Chameleon Skinks
Not a big fan of these guys. But they are our only scouts so a viable option. I just think you have enough blow pipes already.

    5 Saurus Cavalry
    + Standard Bearer
    + Champion
    + Sun Standard of Chotec
List looks very well rounded. To continue that theme, I think I might drop a unit of skirmishers and a few saurus and command models.

Then you would have the points for another unit. A unit of terradon riders could be useful. Or a salamander hunting pack.

    Have fun,

To remove the Bane Head and the Chameleons for a Salamander sounds nice. But I like to snipe an enemy hero with one well-placed Steal Soul :P But I guess the Salamander actually is good, not just cool :P

But the Cogitation... I really like it. The enemies usually have one good magician, and a random irresistible Pit of Shades to kill 800p. from the Slann and the Guards. The Cogitation stops that. Especially if i remove the Diadem. I have similar feelings about the Cup. I have averaged on one miscast per game (except one match where I had 6 miscasts in one game) and miscasts hurt. Bad.

Changes on Skink Priest sounds great.

With those changes i would have 50-100p. free. What should I do with them? Salamander? Cut a few more pts and add 2 Salamanders?

    Thanks a lot :)

Remember that the slann will get a "look out, sir" roll against the pit of shades. But it is fairly bad against the temple guard.

2 salamanders running separately are good. As is a unit of 3 terradons. Whichever you like really. Ranked skinks are also a viable unit for baiting and redirecting.

    Good luck,

Ok, I'm going to try the Terradons

Another thought, The Cavalry costs as much as a unit of 20 normal Saurus. Are they worth their points?

    Thanks again

My view of cavalry is that they are good but should only be used in fast lists. If you are using cavalry, you should have other fast hard hitting units that can keep up with them. That would include kroxigors, stegadons, and other units of cavalry. Since you don't have that in this list, I would go with another unit of saurus.

I was actually thinking about Koxigors to take out hard stuff like Steam Tanks and such. Maby a unit of 4 with a champion? Should I change the Character then as well?

Are you thinking of taking out the cold ones and replacing them with kroxigors? Or Were you going to take out something else? And don't bother with a kroxigor champ. It isn't worth the points unless you are protecting a character in the unit.

Yes, as the Krox are a bit stronger and have more attacks. Is that a good or bas idea? I've made the changes in the first post.

I would rather have both or neither. Having both lets you dominate one flank with 2 quick units that can hit really hard and will have a good chance of breaking something. Using one unit to try this just isn't that reliable.

If you drop the terradons, one unit of skirmishers, the curse charm, and a temple guard musician or other combination of unit command, you could put the cold ones back in. Or I would just use the points for another unit of saurus. That is just my opinion though.
