This list comes to 1001 (we allow up to five points over in our group). The Scar Vet is the general and is embedded in the Saurus crowd (hence the champion, to protect him from unwanted challenges). What does everyone think?
Skin Priest - Lvl 2
Sword of Might
Skink Skirmishers x 10
Saurus x 18
Cold One Cav x 5
I was also thinking that the Scar Vet might be better off on a cold one. Then he could be with the riders, or also in the Saurus unit but with a better save (I think). If he goes in the unit of infantry with a cold one, does the unit suffer from stupidity?
I want some magic, and a Steggadon, so it seemed like going EoTG was a point cost effective way to grab an Ancient one as well as a Lvl 3 Skink. Rethinking that slightly since I saw how bad heaven is, however. Should I stick to a normal steg and forgo any magic at all?
well, any 1k list with a stegadon, much less an EotG is basically an "All your eggs in one basket" approach.
However in defense of the Engine (which I actually dont use myself a whole lot anymore). It also does a lot in addition to a skink priest.
If you do take one, I would really try to fit a plaque of tepok on the skink riding it. This gives you a better chance at getting one of the magic missile spells.
I used to do 1k Engine lists and I have to say there wasn't often that I needed a second hero. Beyone the fact that over half your points are spent on your characters, at lower point games saurus can hold their own against most enemy infantry.
It really depends on if your dead set on the combat hero or not. If you drop him it will allow you add more in the way of bodies and get some better gear on your priest.
"I am the architect of fate!"
take out the scar vet and add in either some more skink skirmishers or if you have the points some terradons, both these add maneuverability and the terradons will help against war machines, most will only be able to fire once (twice if they start) before you can attack with terradons good luck, post back how you do!
I like the list, but that being said, I also would probably drop the vet for another unit of troops. If I kept the vet, I would take the sword of battle over the sword of might. Even add in the maiming shield if I could find the points.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
