I'm thinking of starting Lizardmen for quite a while now and I've made a list to get started. Next month is my Birthday and I wanted to ask the lizzie battalion box, so my list centers around what I can use from that ( and I like chameleons ).
Saurus Scar veteran
sword of striking
20 Saurus warriors
10 Skink skirmishers
5 Cold one cavalry
5 Chameleon skinks
Salamander hunting pack
additional skink handler
-3 dispelldice, 3 powerdice
With this list I can make the saurus, cold one riders and the skinks from the batallion. All I need then are the chameleons, salamander, and the heroes.
This list would give me a very solid block of some of the best infantry in the game. The cold one riders are my fast and hard hitting element, the salamander does some ranged damage and the skinks and chameleons will harass the enemy and pick of warmachine crews. With the skink chief in the skink unit they can even attack small missileunits ( from behind of course ) .
The skinkpriest is mostly there for the dispelldice and a little bit of support. If I come across an amy with more magic I will swap the warbanner of the cold one cav for the diadem of power, which allows me to save up to 2 powerdice as dispelldice, giving me a total of 5 dispelldice, which should be more than enough in 1000 points.
I would drop the skink chief and the ten skinks ... in my opinion both of these are soft choices on the Lizardmen list... with the points you'll save i would have ur priest take two dispel scrolls and add one more saurus cav model or 2 more chameleon skinks
but other that that I like ur list - You may also want to check out the razardon instead of the salamander only becuase the salamander I have found is not that dangerous...
Ah, didn't know that about the diadem. O, the skink priest isn't meant as a scroll caddy Most people in the store don't use that much magic in 1000 pts, except for vamps of course. He buffs my magic defence a little and gives me some magic of my own.
I wanted to put the scar vet on a cold one, but I am planning to put him in the saurus unit to give it ( even more ) punch, I'm afraid it's stupidity might slow it down in a crucial moment ( trust me, that will happen. )
The skink chief will go with the skinks, so a weird place to put a BSB ^^
The saurus arent very fast, so i suggest you give him on a cold one, light armor, shield, Sword of Battle/Might whichever u prefer,and Amulet of Itzl, so he has 1+/5+ saves, id go with the risk of stupidity but speed rather than marching in a block of saurus, and maybe put sun standard of chotec on the cavalry to reduce the ranged casualties.
its all dependant on what they bring, theres no point in having something that takes out armour save if there is no save to take out. if there is no save, then you would do better to max your number of shots with the Razors
Ah irony is a wonderful thing!, yes against those low AS low Ld armies (as all swarm armies are) it is a bit of a coin toss as to which you take. but remember, That then depends on the general, If he has high Ld then take Razors, Low then Sallys...
It may be a bit nit picky, but I always find that my mild OCD appears in gaming!
