I am currently 3-0 with this list (Against High Elves, Dark Elves and Vampires) and was more or less just wondering what you guys thought of it. Now don't get me wrong, I love my saurus, but for this particular list I thought I'd try to get along without them.
Strategy wise, I usually have the BSB, Oldblood, the razordons and a unit of skinks running around on a flank somewhere with at least two of the stegadons rampaging up the middle. I know most people on these boards would rather opt for salamanders than razordons, but I've just plain never had any luck with them, and the razordons have saved me more times than I can count, so I stick with them. They give decent support to units trying to attack the Carnosaur, and with the BSB near them losing handlers just doesn't matter.
I realize having groups of 11, 11, and 12 skinks is a bit weird, but sometimes that extra 6 really comes in handy.
I enjoy this list more than my Slann, as it's well, more fun.
This list looks like a lot of fun to play but it means that your Scar Veteran is all alone on the table, doesn't he get in trouble?
I think this list is great but you have to be quite an experienced general to be able to win with this list.
Looks like a nice list. About the only thing I would suggest changing is the plaque of tepok. I would go with the diadem of power for more defense. You really aren't looking to over power your opponent in the magic phase.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
The diadem would make a great choice as well. The only reason I take the Plaque most times is to try to make sure I get at least Second Sign along with Portent. I haven't cast an offensive spell yet with this list, heh.
And about the Scar-Vet, I haven't had him die on me yet, but I play pretty defensively with him. I usually have him around forests with the razordons or skinks, or the Carnosaur. The Stegadons can usually get by alright without having the re-roll on the break tests. I've used him a couple times in combet, but only when I'm positive he can come out alive.
It sounds like you have one very heavy flank, a decent middle, and then NOTHING on your other flank. What's stopping those more mobile armies from avoiding your big hitters completely and flanking you themselves?
More or less the fact that the army is pretty much all at least M6, really. I don't always use the heavy flank like that, in some cases I put my entire army in a small little section on the board, so it doesn't really have a flank.
This past weekend I was able to get everyone under the EoTG ward save bubble against dark elves, so shooting did almost nothing.
I just had to make sure I dispelled every black horror he threw or it'd be game over very quickly. Luckily I was able to.
