    Idea for 1k

My first list for a 1000point game, I'm a very inexperienced warhammer-player so some feedback would be awesome. This is the list that I've come up with

    General

Saurus Scar-Veteran: Cold One, Light Armour, Shield of the Mirrored Pool, Halbeard.

    Heroes
Skink Priest: Lvl. 2, Diadem of Power

    Core
    10x Skink Skirmishers
    10x Skink Skirmishers
18x Saurus Warriors: Standard, Musician (the general goes into this group)

    Special
    3x Terradons
6x Cold One Cavalry: Musician, Standard. Magic Standard: Huanchi's Blessed Totem

Should be 998 points in total.

Hi, first welcome to the world of warhammer. To start with, not a bad list, probably just a few things i would change.

    General
Saurus Scar-Veteran: Cold One, Light Armour, Shield of the Mirrored Pool, Halbeard.
-I would recommend dropping the shield of mirrored pool for the maiming shield as your opponent will only ever fire 1 magic missile at the unit.
    Heroes
Skink Priest: Lvl. 2, Diadem of Power
-Try and find the extra points for a dispel scroll here, just make certain you stop that game winning spell.
    Core
    10x Skink Skirmishers
    -Good
    10x Skink Skirmishers
-Good (if you need to find some extra points, dropping one of these units down to ranked skinks wont hurt too bad)
18x Saurus Warriors: Standard, Musician (the general goes into this group)
-If the general is in here, i would recommend a champion for the unit, for challenge protection, maybe drop them down to 16+Scar-Vet in a 6x3 formation. Standard and musician are not 100% necessary as they should put out enough attacks to win combat in most instances, and rallying on cold-blooded 8 should be no problem.

    Special
    3x Terradons
-Great for march blocking and dropping a few rocks on that lonely character off by himself.
6x Cold One Cavalry: Musician, Standard. Magic Standard: Huanchi's Blessed Totem
-Again, musician is not necessary, huanchis is alright, but you will probably find alot of missile fire is targeted at this unit, i would recommend the sun standard if you can afford it.

As i have said, not a bad list at all, just a few tweaks here and there and you are all set.

    Hope this has helped

    Chickenout!!

Just wondering if it's possible to have both a dispel scroll and a diadem of power on the priest since both items are arcane?

Updated my list a bit, so this is what I came up with.

    General
Saurus Scar-Veteran: Cold One, Light Armour, The Maiming Shield, Halbeard. 144p

    Heroes
Skink Priest: Lvl. 2, Diadem of Power 125p

    Core
    10x Skink Skirmishers 70p
    10x Skinks 50p
16x Saurus Warriors: Champion (the general goes into this group) 204p

    Special
    3x Terradons 90p
5x Cold One Cavalry: Standard: Sun Standard of Chotec 235p

    Rare
Salamander Hunting Pack: 1 extra handler 80p

Over-all it sums up to 998 points again.

So, the modifications I've done are:
Scar Veteran: I've switched the Shield of the Mirrored Pool to the Maiming Shield to get that 1+ attack.
Saurus Warriors: I've dropped it down to a unit to 16, stripped them of their musician and standard since they should have no problem in rallying or outdoing most enemies in CC, added a champion for challenge protection. Still taking the general in that group, running a 6x3 line.
Skinks: Changed one group of skirmishers into an ordinairy group of skinks, saving 20 points and not loosing that much since they basicly will serve as a meatshield for the Saurus unit.
Cavalry unit: Dropped down to 5 instead of 6 to afford the Sun Standard of Chotec for ranged protection. Stripped them of their Musician aswell since Cold Blooded should work just fine.
Salamander unit: For the spare points I added this unit to help with the tougher foes, adding 1 extra handler for some more durability.

I would drop the halberd for a spear, so that you can use the maiming shield in combat.

You can take as many dispel scrolls and power stones as you can afford on top of one arcane item.

I like the list. But theres a couple things to change that'll make it better. The scar-vet set up is not effective. A halbeard uses two hands, and as you have a magic shield, you'll never get to use it. I'd just lose the maiming shield and take venom of the firefly frog to get magical and poisonous attacks. I dont think the sun standard is worth it on the unit of 5 cold ones. If you drop that it gives you more points to play with. Take warbanner instead and add a dispel scroll. If you lose the extra handler then you can make the 2nd unit of skinks skirmishers.

All this is just what i'd do, good luck with it.

Drop the halberd as you can't use it with the shield. Add the sword of battle if you can afford it.

    Heroes
Skink Priest: Lvl. 2, Diadem of Power 125p
    I would add a scroll.

    Core
    10x Skink Skirmishers 70p
    10x Skinks 50p
16x Saurus Warriors: Champion (the general goes into this group) 204p

    Special
    3x Terradons 90p
5x Cold One Cavalry: Standard: Sun Standard of Chotec 235p

    Rare
Salamander Hunting Pack: 1 extra handler 80p
I would drop this again. Add in another cold one rider and use the points elsewhere.
    Good luck,

in my case i ironically made a list veeeery similar. my differences were that i switched the shield for the maiming shield, though origionally i had the mirrored pool. i also decided that i'd give a skink chief a terradon, venom of the firefly frog, and the kicker is the banner of chotec so that even out of cover they can't hit you wiht missiles without suffering a -3 to hit.
