So here was my thinking with this list, rumors are the new 8th edition rules are going to be stressing points for core choices a lot more, plus as saurus and skink skirmishers form some of the best core choices in the game i figured I should play to the lists strengths. Went with no lords because points are tight and being a former empire player the lizard heros are better than any of my lords were anyway.
Hero:
Scar vet, Glyph necklace, sword of battle, , L armor, shield: 143
Scar Vet- Enchanted shiled, sword of striking, L armor 135
Skink priest LV 1, 2 dispel scrolls
Skink cheif w warspeer mounted on ancient stegadon 380
Core:
18 saurus w spears, champ, SB (to be fielded in blocks of 6x3)
18 saurus with spears, champ, SB
18 saurus with spears, champ, SB
10 skink skirmishers
10 skink skirmishers
10 skink skirmishers
Special:
5 terradons 150 (some of the best flying units in the game)
4 terradons 120
Rare:
2 salamanders 150
2 salamanders 150
Total: 2249
Basically i wanted 3 solid blocks of troops, 2 of which will house the scar vets. The skirmishers will provide the usual major headache. The skink chief is expensive but i think he could be a weapon of mass destruction with 2D6+ 1 S 6 impact hits plus the blowpipes and other attacks....
the weakness is definately magic with only 1 scroll caddy, though ideally the pleothora of teradons could focus on taking out any mages not burried in units. Also aside from the stegadon im not sure if i have enough high strength attacks in my army.
Im not in love with the salamanders and considered making them each units of 1 and adding some kroxigors but im not in love with them either (i feel as though they would get shot up too easily w thier lower T). I also considered dropping 3 of the salamanders to field a regular stegadon but it just didnt feel right...
basically i like the core of my army (saurus, skins, teradons) and i like the idea of the stegadon ancient, but everything else im open to changing.
