    1000 pts no core skinks

Is this list viable? Sorry don't have my book in front of me for point values...

General - Scar Vet, Sword of Might, LA, shield, Glyph Necklace - ~143
Skink Priest, EotG, scroll, plaque of tepok - 395
18 saurus, spears, champ, standard (general goes here) 240
17 saurus, spears, champ, standard (if necessary EotG goes here) 240

    ~1000 pts

Tactic is EotG in center flanked by both saurus blocks- march towards enemy lines with ward bubble until in range for burning alignment. Probably will struggle against Sethalya type lists but what do you think?

It's viable- you have your two units of saurus, 10+ each which is mnimum for your army.

I'd drop the sword of might for the sword of Chotec. The cost is the same, but with the sword of might you go up to S6 (and thus, -3 Armor save). The Sword of Chotec gives you burning damage (never know when you will need it) and your hits will now be at -4 armor save.

Other then that, it's a viable army. Yeah a lot rides on your Priest getting some good spells in order to do any range damage but it can work

    Is it viable: Sure.

Is it boring: I would think so.

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.

when i see your list all i can see is a cavalry unite charging the flank of the saurus and breaking the unite in one round

flank + banner + war banner + and probably 2-3 wounds

but other than that it is legal

I have a modest army of around 1500pts and I frequently run a similar list. I use 2 blocks of 15 saurus, a unit of skinks, some cold ones, and an EoTG when at 1000pts. My usual opponents are O&G and mounted WoC. I always annihilate the orcs, and against the WoC it ranges from wiping him off the board before the end of turn two (Yay irresistible force comet combined with bad deployment!) to an embarrassingly crushing defeat on my part. Also I've found success in a similar formation which I have dubbed the "stegadon catapult" as the EoTG or stegadon in general sits in the middle of the two saurus blocks in a way to keep it from being charged, and to allow it to burning alignment and counter or regular charge anything. So the list is viable, but consider dropping the scar veteran and a saurus or two to add some cold ones for mobility.

How doeas it work against a cavalry list?
I mean, the engine could be charged by cavalry on the 2nd turn or something like that. Personaly I don't take stegadons on 1000 games, becouse one or two hits from the wrong artilery could get your stegadon killed. Especialy cannons.
Fwishin, I am realy curious how could you win orcs and goblins all the time with that list, how do you prevent all of his artilery and fanatics from ruining your army?

The orcs have killed the stegadon with a bolt thrower, but the guy usually relies on lots and lots of orc boyz which I usually out magic and out fight. Also on the cavalry thing, I either win easily or lose miserably, never been a close match. To be specific I form up like this: the two saurus blocks are situated adjacent to each other with the stegadon in the middle and slightly behind the saurus line. The saurus are close enough to were a standard five wide unit cannot charge the stegadon without hitting the saurus blocks instead. He can't hit me head on cause the stegadon has line of sight on everything in front of the saurus and can counter charge almost anything while the saurus are close enough that anything that does hit them on the sides will be shredded by burning alignment. The cold ones and skinks harry the horsemen, and help secure my flanks long enough for the EoTG and saurus blocks to get into range. It's not perfect, but it does work.
