I have been playing lizzies for a little while, and i really like the skink priests with heavens lore, so i decided to try to make a lizzie army that was magicy w/o a slann, since my friends and i usually play less than 2000 pnts.
My idea was to get 2 priests forlots of magic, and then try to hunt wizzards (and war machines if they have them) with terradons and scouting skinks, and then use saurus and sallies to hold the lines.
My main opponents will be dark elves (very shooty list), orcs and goblins (also quite shooty), and vampire counts (magic heavy) Here is what I have so far, and please dont be afraid to be critical of it. It is also 69 points short of 1000, but im not sure what to do with those points.
maybe quetzl spawning,
i saw in some other threads ppl argueing between great weapon and sword of might, and im not sure which of those to take
i would also like him to accompany my saurus, so if that matters in weapons please let me know.
85 pnts (so far)
2x skink priest
i was thinking maybe giving them a dispel scroll
is this too many heroes?
hand weapon and shield
(accompanied by scar-vet)
javelin and shield
blowpipe and hand weapon
hand weapon and javelin
here i was also thinking that chameo skinks might be good since i want to go wizzard hunting...
Im hoping my idea will work, but it seems as if it might make the army a little too hero heavy, and i'd be a little weak in close combat. Im hoping i can keep both priests and keep them at lvl 2, but that might not be possible for such a small game.
EDIT: My friends and i also sometimes play small warbands games at 500 pnts so here is an army i would use for that (again i have some extra points, 38 this time, for scar-vet equipment):
still not sure what equip, but tepok for anti-magic
hand weapon and shield
(again accompanied by scar-vet)
javelin and shield
blowpipe and hand weapon
thx for taking the time to help me out

I personally would not take the terradons even if they get the hit and run rule they dont cause that damage in combat. If you are using them to attack opponents in the flank, Kroxigors would be better. They are meaner and stronger in combat AND can charge through skink screens which really suprise your opponent when all he thought he was doing was exposing his flank to lowly skinks. Aslo if you are using the terradons to go mage hunting then use chameleon skinks instead. These guys can deploy in the opon (great to get views of enemy wizards) and shoot them to death. IMO dont use the terradons. Having 2 skink priest is great but keep them well protected. Against Vmapire counts a disapell scroll is a must have.
thx for the advice on the chameos...
but ive heard other ppl say that they cost too many points to be worth it in anything less than 2000 pnts. i dont mean to be wary of your advice but ive heard lots of advice against useing chameos... although, personally i would be pleased if they were good because i havnt tried them yet. thx again
oH YEAH thee really expensive kroxigor are. But chameleon skins are great trust me, a -1 to hit bonus on them and deploying in the open and if deploying as scouts no minimum distance and at a mere 15pts really signs the deal for me. You could get rid of your terradons for some chameleon skinks. On the view of magic items, you could give your scar veterna venom of the fire fly frog making his attacks magical and poisonous which is great against ethereal units which Vmapire Counts have such as the banshee. Other magic items I would suggest are Cloak of Feathers to get your skink priests out of tight situations and the bane head which makes enemy characters that much easier to kill but apart from this Dispell Scrolls are the way to go
i meant expensive for the chameos, but kroxies are definatly too expensive for the magicy army since they do not fufil the role that i want to fufil with my army. They are hard hitting and essential for a melee army led by a tepok spawned JSOD, however they are too expensive in this case i do like the suggestion of the chameos and i will try them out. thx
first off terradons can cause a world of hurt if u charge the flank and use the hit and run rule, takin a unit of these i believe r pretty vital, i kno wat u meant by the chameleon skinks though, but at 15 points a model ull b spendin 120 points in a small squad of 8, as opposed to havin 3 terradons for 105 points, the rules for chameleons r sweet but rnt enuf for their points, with a shooty army theyll get murdered n every army that has artillery uses it, (just use regular skinks) (empire, dark elves, wood elves even more so now, high elves somewhat, skaven DEFINATLY, dwarf) <- those almost always use range
...u also said to use chamels for mage n war machine huntin......no,,,,,, yes they may b effective for that role but terradons r much better at it, they fly, makin chamels bein able to deploy so close irrelevant
wat u said about kroxies bein better in flank chargers, of course ther kroxies wat wuld u expect, u cant compare the 2 especially wen one is a FLYING unit and the other HEAVY support
the part bout the chameleon skinks is comin from a chameleon skink lover (the models r freakin awesome) but i take them in 1500 points n thats the lowest i think they should ever b taken in n even then i hesitate (2000 points for sure)
(i did realize the -1 to hit but with a unit of xbowmen theyll def get hit even with that rule)
yeah that is what i had heard from other people, and therefore hadnt bought or even seen them used. I had hoped though with those cool models that what i heard and seen, or rather the fact that i hadnt seen, wasnt all that true. oh well, terradons look pretty cool also. ive been thinking about equiping my saurus thus (it looks a little heavy, but i have extra points that idk how to use otherwise):
Scar-vet, general (176)
Quetzl & Sotek.
Aura of Quetzl
the point of this hero is to add to the saurus unit with some punch, and then charge out of it to kill chariots and small groups of cavalry and the such.
m8, take 5 chameleon skinks. 75 pts isnt alot compared to the otion of immediate pressure on a mage/war machine. 5 is enough.
