BSB rides with group with champion, Gleaming scar-vet with the other( Totem of Huanchi). 2 groups with unit strength of 12 plus 1 steggie with strength 8 to assault, rest to defence. One unit of skinks used as bait for the gleaming trap ( enemy runs over skinks, overruns into cavalry, suprised to hit last). The stegadon can be used to cover the more expensive cavalry unit as they deploy and advance during round 1, enemy can't shoot over large targets even if they are on a hill.
I've got little to say about it, except that it's brittle.
Is it a SH of Huanchi or not? And they do benefit of it: they can move through woodlands unhindered, unless it only works on infantry. (haven't got my book at hand)
Have you payed for the Spawning?
Yup. The cost of the spawning is included in the Scar-vets prices. They're the only ones as far as I can tell that needs to take spawning of Huanchi in order for this list to be a sacred host.
The blessed spawning of Huanchi is labeled characters on foot only but you have to have it in order to comply with sacred host rules, even if you have Itzl. I'm suggesting that you pay for the blessing of Huanchi and do not get the benefit until the character is unmounted. Which I can't see any way of happening so in short it's just a waste of points.
But it is a sacred host of Huanchi. Pelt of midnight and Wolf hunts can support this army way better than lore of heavens.
Just thought of the nightmare opponent: A defensive Dogs of war army. They've got xbows for 8 pts a piece I think, and really scary pikemen. Pikemen fight in 4(!) ranks, S4 and most importantly gets to strike first against charging cavalry(!). Yikes. They've got annoying little pistoliers ( on foot and skirmishing) that cost 9 pts each so lots of them as well. Get the armylist from GW homepage if you want to see the stats.
I think this army would do best against a chaos army, (which you need to break and run over as soon as possible), but horribly against shooty armies( HE comes to mind).
I wouldn't fear HE that much. Most HE armies are either cavalry armies (lots of Silver Helms) or mixed infantry-cavalry. But Archers are very unpopular. Just check the HE forum here, most only take 1 minimum unit of Archers for some support and because most are scared of HE shooting.
Though, they do have their RBT and Shadow Warriors. But no mass shooting as you can see with DE, Empire, Dwarves and Skaven.
