I've gone for a list which uses the Temple guard. I also wanted to use a JSoD because I've had a lot of success with him in the past. It hasn't given me many points to play with after all that so what do you think?
Slann – 2nd Gen, Plaque of Tepok, Bane head, BSB, 2xScroll
Scar-vet – Spawning of Sotek, Charm of Jaguar warrior, LA, shield, Great weapon
16 Temple Guard – full command, shields
20 Saurus Warriors – full command
19 Saurus Warriors – full command
12 Skinks – scout
6 Saurus Cavalry – musician
great setup here mate,
wise list from a wise general, i like it (Y)
The bane head works well with the rule of burning iron spell. Useful for killing heavily armoured heroes
Im impressed with how you have a 2nd gen Slann and still manage to eke out enough models that your army is more than 2 models.
3. Marital Bliss 2. Military Intelligence 1. MICROSOFT WORKS
Vassal Record 1-2.
I like it. Honestly, if it were me, I'd take 3 kroxigors in place of the COR, but like I said that's just me. It seems like a nice strong list. Just don't let any vampire counts get too close to your slann and company. Them: outnumber + CR = you: auto-run. I've seen quite a few games end that way. But, you list is well constructed, I think you'll manage.
I don't know if Kroxes are the better choice. I'd want whichever had the better armor save and staying power. Overall, I like the list but think it lacks flankers and range.
Of course, I think you should remove all skinks from the list because I believe in skink extermination as a means towards a better world.
You have to have skinks. The point is no to overdo it with them. You make them balanced with everything else. Otherwise, every siege weapon and ranged attack your enemy has will be aimed at your general's unit, you give up 80% of your ranged attacks, and enemy casters can see you.
Nobody should ever, ever, ever take skinks. Never. If you do take them, they should hide in a corner to claim a table quarter. Otherwise, never never never never never take them.
(Translation: I find them to be a royal pain in the ass, especially in large numbers, and I'd rather not play against them; hence, my skink extermination campaign).
