My lizardmen force is beginning to take shape. It has now grown to the size where a stegadon is needed...
Having proxied the modell on ocations, I have found that I like having the skink chief with +1 leadership helmet, gives it a hole lot of staying power. Of course this staying power comes at a hefty point cost. So I would like the option of switching between using chief or crew, without having to buy two stegadons.
I have never seen the actual modell and I was wondering if it would be much work to use the same stegadon as mount for a skink chief, and having the option of using crew and bow.
I reckon you'd almost be better off with the Staff of the Lost Sun instead of the Sacred Stegadon Helm. While Ld7 would be nice, Coldblooded makes any Ld6 rolls easier; so I'm not sure the Helm would be worth the cost (especially since it doesn't increase the save because of the Stegadon itself).
But then again, I haven't played a game as LM yet so I could easily be wrong.
But as far as the model goes, just don't permanently attach the Giant Bow, and you should be good to go.

If the skink chief is your general then the helm is a must. Otherwise it's up to you, but I still think it's a great idea
As for the model itself, just don't glue the skink crew in. You can easily interchange them with a skink chief then, even with the giant bow glued in place.
The problem I see with your plan is that do you get a stubbern 7 leadership with the helmet, or do you take a stubbern 5 leadership of the stegadon? not to sure which one it is, but I would look into that first.
But more to the question, as long as the crews aren't glued in place you should be fine, the giant bow you may not want to glue one, maybe use a pin or something to hold it into place when you use a large crew for it, that way when you chief rides it it doesn't look like he just took his fellow skinks ride for the battle, but actually has his own stegadon.
does it specificaly say that the stegadon helm gives you the stubborn rule, because if not, then the leadership 7 could be reduced. As soon as it hits lower than 5, the stegadons stubborn leadership kicks in.
Im also curious as to how you would use magnets? glew them to the bases?
