I too have recently switched from chaos (tzeentch/slaanesh basically) to lizardmen, and i can tell you without any doubt that lizards are chaos mkII.
To be brief, sauri are chosen chaos warriors, who cost 7 point less and test Ld with 3 dice, with the only drawback that they have ws3.
In a saurus army you'll have no trouble fielding 80 sauri @2000 pts, plus 4 saurus heroes, all bearing "marks" that confer them additional armor or extra dispel diceor additional attacks...amazing! And there's the JSoD who can make you able to crush entire enemy flanks!
This is the khorne side of lizzies...without frenzy!!!
And if you want magic instead, go for the slann: in that case i'd prefer tzeentch, though.
The slann is more powerful at casting but tzeentch simply has got more dice and also rerolls them
Lizardmen are definitely an upgrade from chaos imo...we'll see what chaos becomes with the new rules next year LOL
It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.
thanks for the little tip. hehe yeah some saurus blocks coverd up my some skinks looks nice. the first army i saw ever was lizardmen... my dad bought a starter set for bretonia and lizardmen like 8 years ago

Lizardmen are an army with basically no weakness, they're even easy to paint well.
As Hollow_Man said, they have all the durability of Chaos, but they also have a lot more variety in play style.
If you want to go Heavy Infantry, you can have large blocks of Saurus led by a seriously dead'ard Old-Blood and some nasty Scar-Veterans.
If you want to go Magic-heavy, the Slann is an obvious choice, but many Skink Priests are also viable.
If you want to play a Horde, you can field tons of Skinks supported by a some really big, mean monsters such as the Stegadon and the Kroxigors.
The challenge for the Lizardmen is making sure the list is cohesive. While Lizardmen units can be configured to fit essentially any play style, one has to be aware of what all the others are doing. Additionally, it is very easy to get tangled up in all the excellent Sacred Spawnings available to the Saurus and end up paying too much for too few troops.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
Lizardmen own period the end I mean the only army I really have gotten wiped out against was against empire and wood elves(damn them trees with strength 5 or 6 attacks)
