Ok I've just started Lizardmen and I've got my army book and I've bought this
Skink heroes - 5 assorted
10 chameleon skinks
18 jav skinks - 1 standard and musician
15 bow skinks - 1 standard and musician
31 plastic bow skinks
6 metal skink horned one riders
12 Sarus Warriors
12 Sarus Warriors
Slann mage priest
8 Sarus riding cold ones
I'm entering a campaign at my local wargames club (abingdon wargames club) and its 2000 points and I need the army to be able to take on all other armies and to be balanced, but I am usually a stand and shoot player but need it to be able to charge and do magic as well.
Well, first of all I'd suggest finding a 4th Kroxigor and a 3rd Salamander. A Saurus hero might be nice, too. As for the rest... You realize you're basically asking for "the bestest list evar", right? If I knew of a list that was balanced, could do all those things, and beat everything else, I probably wouldn't tell you.
I can tell you some things, though. Kroxigors are amazing. Take a group of 4, and send it at the most elite unit in your opponent's army. Assuming you can get the charge, you will most likely win. Skink Chiefs are overpriced and not very good; try to avoid them. Your Saurus Warriors are only mediocre; their biggest strength is high leadership. A lot of your units do very poorly in close combat (or, in the Stegadon's case, extended close combat). Slann, Salamanders (don't be fooled by their stat line), skinks of all sorts... If it's not a Saurus variant, it can't take much of a hit without fleeing.
I did get it wrong tho I have 2 lots of 16 saurus warriors.
I think I'll only have a skin priest to channel Slann magic through unless I decide on doing a southlands army
You could stick 16 of your saurus around the Slann then give them the BSoTlazcotl. Another unit of 16 Saurus and the steg and you've got your 3 "blocks" as it were. It's pretty much up to you what you do from there, but that's how I would start, looking at the models you've got.
I think I'm going to buy a whole unit oif terradons, a salamander, one more kroxigor and 15 temple guard
then my list would be something like
2nd gen slann
16 saurus warriors
16 saurus warriors
15 temple guard
lots of skinks
8 cold ones
(not worked out points yet or if i can even take that)
em tats a pretty decent army id advise using kroak instead of slann dont use both..just use one nd spend d points sumwere else
Without any skinks, any command groups, spawnings or magic items you'd still be over.
Maybe if you droped the temple guard an the cold one riders, you could get a list just inside.
This is the main problem i have with lizardmen, you can never get everything you want into the army.
As mentioned above... it would be difficult to fit that into 2000 pts... I suggest that you try not to get every option- but focus on a theme-... eg. do you like speed? etc. However, since u r a stand and shoot player, I would advise quite a lot of skinks (as youhave there already) and 2 units of 3 salamanders - whcih are very effective. I would also advise u to get another skink priest/saurus hero- depending if you want to beef up combat or to get more control on the magic phase
NOTE: oops i didn't notice that ur slann was 2nd gen. In that case I guess one skink priest is probably enough.
