I must admit I just simply love the Skink Chief models, all of them are better than the skink priest one.
I was just wondering if people had used a flying skink of doom (FSOD) to eliminate mages and wizards. This is the one I will use in my 2000 points army:
Cloak of Feathers
2 Hand Weapons
Spawn of Sotek (I need to clear some points to do this, would drop a chamoskink)
That means this guy can charge 20" into a wizard and have 5 attacks that would probably hit and wound on 3s. That usually kills off a wizard (and maybe even a wizard lord if he doesnt have a ward save). I can imagine this tactic being really useful against TK as the priest could potentially get the charge 1st turn and kill the hierophant easily and the TK army starts crumbling from turn 1.
You could be really sneaky and start off with the chief within 4" of the slann (I have a 2nd gen). He could then fly off towards the enemy and then in the magic phase you could cast steed of shadows on him (as he would be within 24") and he could have a charge range of 40 inches!!!! No wizard can hide from that.
Once more your opponent will think he is just a skink so completely ignore him while he goes for your slann/krox/anything else.
Once he has killed the wizard then he has earned his points back and can generally be a nuisance by marchblocking and attacking warmachine crews and whatnot.
Does anybody else use this? I never see it on the boards.
3. Marital Bliss 2. Military Intelligence 1. MICROSOFT WORKS
Vassal Record 1-2.
You'd probably fail your fear test vs tomb kings
But seriously, I have never tried this but it seems like it could be fun. Especially if you also have a JSOD. Why have one lizard flying around on steroids when you could have two!
On the other hand, if you miscast or steed of shadows is dispelled then you'll have to have a solid plan B...
As someone who is starting a Tomb Kings army and spends a lot of time in the TK Army forum, I can say that I've seen similar tactics using both the Tomb King and the Carrion units. If it Skink Chief can get in to pull off the attacks, then it's got a good chance of working.
The low leadership is a bit of a concern getting at fear causing opponents (such as the Lich Priest), but Coldblooded may balance that out.
Let me know if it works, my wife is starting Lizardmen, and may find the tactic interesting.
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains
meh, as long as he begins his charge near to the slann then fear isn't going to bother him too much.
I've used this guy a couple of times. In 2k I find all my character slots are taken up by more 'essential' characters but in 3k he's definitely worth a shout. Works well with a JSoD running about as well
haven't used a FSoD but might the Dagger of Sotek be good-gives the killing blow and causes fear in skaven.
nope the total comes to 5 pts below the limit so it's valid (plus with the dagger you can shred those gatling teams before they shred saurus)
the cloak of feathers and the dagger of sotek total 55 points, its too expensive for the poor skink chief
however there is always the jauar charm. the problem with this of course is that the charm is so much better on a saurus.
spambot kill tally: 79
[16:19] <@Alzer> Arky's right though
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> I know he is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> He usually is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> Sometimes it's intentional.
[00:01] <+zubus> i love you, ya skirt wearin nothern monkey! ^_^
If only Lizardmen Magic Items were a bit cheaper think of all the combinations. Oh well.
I tried him today and he worked quite well (missed all his attacks but managed to get to a warmachine quickly) I used add. hand weapon and the BSoSotek. I also took a JSoD, the Slann used up the rest of my character slots, turns out the skinks priest wasn't as essential as I though, the Slann is still pretty potent by himself!
