I was just wondering which is the best hammer units to hit hard and heavy. Assuming an equal amount of points for each which would be better? Saurus Cavalry, large smash but without exceptional defense, kroxigors with a nice skink screen ability and a massive punch but with even less defence than the cavalry, or the big stego (which we all know about ), or even a preferred combination of them?
it's a tough one. A unit of 5 CoR hits very hard and with a musician comes in at a reasonable 185 pts. Although only one or two casualties and this is reduced.
A unit of four krox is a bit more expensive, but is amazing. With 12 s7 attacks which aren't diminished until your opponent causes 3 wounds against the unit is great. Also you can screen with skinks and charge through them to prevent even more early damage.
It's a tough one to call and each have their good and bad points. I like Krox the best but others might think differently.
I agree. Krox are better because...
1. Multiwound str 7
2. Not stupid. Even with the coldblooded rule CoR the will fail 1 in 11 tests. Thats about one every two games. Play a 5 game tourney and that's amost 3 failed tests. Sometimes not a big deal but sometimes it's a game breaker.
3. Better models.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

Models are awful, but there are good subs out there.
You want a hard hitter, then its Krox all the way. Skink Screens just make them dirty...
RAAAAWR KROXIGOR!!!!
As a Vampire Counts player, I vote (BTW this should be a poll so I can vote) Kroxigors as a better hammer than Saurus Cavalry, the Cav just never seem to pull their weight, while I keep a wary eye on my opponents Kroxigors.
