So in your opinion, what is the best tactic on using the skinks in this army.
I know that everybody uses these little terrors on the battlefield. Let me and others know how to use them most effectively to boost the Lizardmens chances of stomping on there enemies.
I have heard of using then as a moving screen for Saurus warriors and Kroxigors. How far should they be in front of these blocks? Do you scout any of them?
You use the search function here in the forum, there's a small mountain of tactics to be had about these terrors. I use them extensively in my army.
What are the advantages of the skinks? they are, fast, highly maneouverable and cheap. these are the qualities that a LM player must use so that these advantages are always in play during the game. Not any of their weaknesses.
They are usually used for shielding those expensive saurus warriors. Making sure that they make it into the safety of combat, without getting shot to pieces. Give them those valuable Blowpipes and and you've got a basic, lethal force to reckoned with. When used effectively.
Upgrade them a little to have the Scouts special rule, then these fellas are even more deadly. I doesn't mean that they have to kill something to be valuable! just whip them behind several units to show them down to a crawl, assassinate cowering wizards and generally annoy your opponent with them just staning there behind his lines!
I sometime use them to protect the Kroxigor units though i mainly just use a couple of units just to shield the saurus. Though on a few occasions, I find that Blitzkrieging Kroxigor leaping through another friendly unit, a good tactic used to surprise your oppoent.
Stick your General nearby, and they'll almost certainly pass that LD test!
There are more tactics throughout LO, all it needs is a few words in that search function and you're away.
Hope this Helps
P.S. Try and get a blowpipe armed skink unit into short range, then do double-shot against a Giant. Most of the time he disappears!
I've never understood the whole "Screen" tactic. first of all how are saurus supposed to charge into an enemy when skinks are infront of them? when i tried to use skinks as screens i couldn't get them out of the way of charging units(like mine) and they would just slow down my whole strategy. the only way i get good results with skinks, and i getreally good results, is when i scout them on flanks of big square units and pelt away. i also inprove on this by scouting 1 unit of skinks on either side of the units so that they don't know where to go.
if someone can tell me how the screen tactic works please explain for the man(and me. another man)
I normally just have my saurus take the charge, but on those occasions where they manage to charge instead it is by having the skinks flee when charged and then counter-charging on my next turn. Generally though, I have my Korxigors charge through skinks and my saurus take charges from flanking units.
skinks should be far enough ahead of the saurus so that when/if charged and when they flee the enemy is in the juicy charge range of the saurus. If you want to be more homicidal stand and shoot, skinks get axed and enemy over-run (but hopefully not into your saurus!) then counter charge!!
