How do engines of the gods work?

Can an engine of the gods still work even if the skink priest that has to man it is in close combat? I was just wondering becuase thats how I have been playing it. Also can I use two engines at 2000 points. If so what choices do they take up?

Yes, the powers still work in Hand to Hand as they're not spells or require targetting. You can use two engines but it takes two hero and two rare slots

    P.S., I run two engines =D

They would take two hero spots but not the rares .. they are simply counted as mounts.

Was I the only one who read this threads title and had to resist the urge to post just a sarcasstic "well"?

Anyway, yes in combat, and only hero choices are used to purchase them. You could have 4 in 2000 points if you want (and honestly not much else.)
