Ok, I was considering running another Skink Chief in my army, and after equipping the first with the War-spear, I was trying to decide on equipment for the other. Long story short, I decided on the Carnosaur Medallion (Amulet, whatever), to give the Chief Frenzy after a wound. The only requirement of taking the Medallion is that the character must be a Saurus or Skink. There are no requirements for model being on foot or mounted.
Now with Frenzy affecting an entire model if mounted, What do you folks think would be the most effective mount for the points?
1.) Stegadon- That would give it 5 Str 5 attacks once the Chief is frenzied.
2.) Ancient Stegadon- Would be 4 Str 6 attacks once frenzied.
3.) Terradon- Flying, frenzied 2 Str 4 attacks.
I'm leaning toward the regular Stegadon. The Ancient would have a better save and higher Str, but the standard Stegadon is cheaper and it's still Str 5. The Terradon has the capability of ending up off the board edge due to the frenzy making it overrun.
Carnosaur Pendant, is what the item is actually called.
I'd go with either the first or second option. I'd rather not put a character holding that item on a mount that moves as fast as a Terradon. Better safe than sorry.
I would prefer the ancient. I like the strength 6 impact hits.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
I'd do the skaven pelt banner on a bsb on Ancient Stegadon in a unit of 1 Krox with 8-10 skinks full command. Give the BSB a spear and you get extra attacks on everyone and static combat res. Or drop the krox and stick another stegadon in the unit and you get tons of impact hits and ton of attacks and make sure you cast second sign or something on them (or reroll 1's).
