ok I know that im posting quite soon after my last topic but I got challenged by my friend with his new beastmen list today and im not sure how to cope with it that is if its legal anyway. Basicaly he has
1 shaman (not given any upgrades or items)
2xunits of 10 ungors
and the rest of his point limit ( for a 1500 ) point game is made up of dragon ogres
As i say he tells me thats its legal but im not sure and if it is then i dont have a clue how to beat it bcos their fast and nasty in combat. Thx
I don't have my BoC book on me but I can tell you that 10 ungors is Illegal, he must have atleast 5 gors and 5 ungors... the rest sounds legal but not sure how many special slots those dragon ogres take up(he might have to many special choices) a little more info would help a lot.
As for help, sorry I haven't played or played against BoC in a long time can't help you there...
I thought I was smart, but apparently people don't like to take advice from beggars.
Dragon Ogres are rare units so he should only be able to have 1 unit at 1500 (that unit could be 18 strong though!).
ok, i may have misinterpreted what he said about his basic troops slots as i dont know the BoC vry well but i understood about the dragon ogres and if it is legal then i hate to think how to deal with that many in the time it'll take for them to get to me do they have any particular weaknesses?
Well, his army does not seem to have much magic defense, and dragon ogres have a special rule called Storm Rage that means they are immune to lightning based attacks but instead become frenzied when targetted by them. I suggest you induce their frenzy with some heavens magic and then use it against them (ie - redirect them with a sacrificial unit then rear charge with a couple of stegadons).
sounds good, another thing that i was considering is taking a massive ammount of skinks then keeping a scar vet near them for fear tests and just hoping to take advantage of his low armour saves.
you can flee with anything (even your saurus) and then counter charge with krox, stegs, more saurus, whatever. This, however is the perfect job for skinks. There is no shooting in the beasts army, so if he truly only has 2 herds and a shaman and then a bunch of dragon ogres (really expensive unit) then all you need is to block his DO's with skinks and he will have to charge them or sit there. All the beasts are susceptible to panic, so this is actually one of the few cases where a salamander might do you well. The DO have the highest leadership in the army which is only an 8, the rest of his army will run 50% of the time.
ok thx, we r set to play tomorow so ill post to say know how it went
ok well we had the fight and he took his army exactly how he said he would except that i was wrong about having all ungors as troops choices and I achieved somewhat of a crushing victory over him . basicaly I did what you suggested and forced him into charging the skinks by attacking his DOs with uranons thunderbolt before flank charging him with saurus and rear charging with 5 krox which pretty much destroyed half of them followed by a failed break test (due to his abismal dice rolling against the skinks) and an overun. As for the rest of his army i got his wizard in first magic phase with uranons thunderbolt and the half of the gors got squashed by my steg with the rest of them fleeing off the board after panicking from the break of the DOs. and all i lost in return was half the sacraficial unit of skinks and a wound on the steg.
thx for the advice guys.
