Another Anger of the Bear Question.

With anger of the bear invoked on a character it says the character "He cannot wield a weapon nor use a shield whilst using this spell". So this leads me to believe he his using his fist / legs, general hand to hand combat, and in any situation where an actual weapon is not used the books use text along these lines:

Example: Jungle Swarm - Teeth and Venom! (counts as hand weapon)

Example: Plaguebearers of Nurgle - Plaguesword (hand weapon)

But with us lizardmen players we have the nice little item Venom of the Firefly, which leads to my question. Do implied hand weapons count as mundane weapons and thus the character allowed to be an angry bear with magical poisoned attacks from this item?

Also im inclined to lean towards no, but do the attacks made under anger of the bear count as magical? Just curious because flaming sword of rhuin (Fire 2) doesnt specificly that they are magical attacks I would feel hard pressed to argue that they are not.

These question arised because I have to be continued game in front of me with my roommate, and my saurus scar-vet is going to have to fight malekith before to long and I want to do what i can to maybe kill that guy.

I would say that the bears anger spell doesn't give you magical attacks, and that the venom of the firefly item will work in this situation.

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.

I've always thought the attacks from the spell are considered magical, since they emminate from a magical source. I would also allow for them to be poisoned if firefly frog venom was already there.

I don't think they are because the spell only affects your stat line, it doesn't actually give you anything. I can see your point and did have to think about it, but since it doesn't say anything about the attacks you already have on your stat line, I consider it just an adjustment to your stats and it lets you attack with your fists and you get a higher strength.

makes sense. Unless you're playing WE or VC, there's really not much difference between magical and non-magical attacks anymore. LM,HE, and WoC have 1-2 items I think that make them ethereal or have a better save vs. non-magical attacks is all.
