I'll just come right out and say it: I think the plastic Cold One models in the Cold One Cavalry box set are awful. Hell, I think they're worse than the old 6th edition cold ones - but I can't get those any more, and the riders don't look as good. I don't like the stylised look, the lack of detail, the absurd poses, and just about the only thing I do like is the aztec mask that covers the head of the Champion's cold one.
However I think the Cold Ones in the DE Cold One Knights box are awesome and I want to use those. I won't even need a great deal as I only plan on using a unit of 8 or so Cold One Cavalry (35 pts each!). Leaving me with two Cold Ones spare for Scar Vets etc.
That being said, i've come across two problems:
1. The saddles for the Knights seem to be attached to the Cold One's body pieces, wheras the Saurus seem to have their legs attached to their saddles. I'm assuming that it will look silly / won't work well if I just stick the Saurus + saddles on top of the DE Cold Ones which already have saddles.
2. I really like that mask - would it look any good if I attached some of the glyphs from the Lizardmen Bitz range to a DE Cold One's head?
Anyone who has actually built the Cold One Knights would be most welcome to correct me on the saddles attached to bodies bit.
Keep in mind that i'm a total noob when it comes to conversions in general and have never tried green stuff before.
saddles are attached to the cold one. The legs for the saurus (and their saddle) almost need an entire reworking. They are way too wide and look kind of funny in my opinion.
I put off working on it because, I'll probably only run cold ones once and then sell them and it seemed like such a pain to work.
The helmet looks like a cardboard box in my opinion, I'd stick with the DE cold one champion head.
Seriously? What's with all the hate towards the Lizzie's Cold Ones? I personally love 'em, especially compared to those ridiculous older models.
Oh well; that aside, here's a forum thread on The Pyramid Vault about this same thing.
because they look like they belong on Sesame Street with Snuffalufagus (spelling?) and Big Bird more than in WHFB. Even though the old style had it's problems, it didn't look like it is just dying to fail stupidity tests, just to prove a point.
I hate the lizardmen cold ones with an unholy passion so that is exactly what I did. They are a bit wide but frankly they look a million times better after some simple green stuff work to set them there.
