Hi guys, I haven't been around in a while so I thought I would make a little thread showing what I have been up to lately with my lizards. I don't really get a lot of time to paint so they are going slowly, but getting there. I just ordered the washes, so before I get into mass producing skinks I am going to try them out and see how they go.
WiP of my carnosaur, the scales are going to stay dark but be highlighted a bit. I may apply a wash to the skin, but I wouldn't know which one to use yet so we shall see.
My stegadon is getting close to complete, aside from the howdah. He still needs a bit more detail work done, I am magnetizing the skinks to the howdah so lots of drilling before painting. Here is his WiP pics.
Finally, I did a test run on a skink a few days ago to try a few methods. Another one with a similar scheme but different method is on the way but not ready for pictures yet.
And I was lucky enough to grab some of GWs limited edition LM dice.
Opinions, questions, comments appreciated.
...wow...I'm amazed. Very nice models you got there bud!
Nice dice, and the models aren't too bad either.
BEN DIESEL FTW!!!
What colours did you use for the steg. I havn't painted mine yet and I love that colour scheme. The skinks are amazing.
Daemonic cheese-how? Well, you would need to start with daemonic milk, i guess...
The scales of the steg are dark angels green and snot green basically, with upper highlight rotting flesh with a touch of dark angels green. I just started with DA then 50/50 with snot, then snot, then 50/50 with rotting flesh and finally rotting with a tiny bit of DA, then of course a couple of watered down coats of green ink. The flesh is mostly the same except with less subtle highlights since I wanted it overall to be black except with a few areas of typical frog "don't-f*ck-with-me" bright colours, aka the snot green and rotting flesh. If you water down rotting flesh to about 50% when you apply a thin coat onto the green areas, as it dries most of the green will still show through but it will work to brighten it.
I got the wash set last night so I am messing around with a few different styles on the skinks before getting stuck into them, I came across the possibility of leaving the skin black though, so very volcanic style lizardmen rather then the cold blue contrast with bright orange. I do like the blue though. I will properly do a test model tonight and make a pic.
Nice reptilian colorscheme, i like the green strokes!
Where did those dice come from? They be nice!
They were a GW special offer when the lizards first got rereleased. Buy a new model and get 2 of them, buy an old one and get 1, from GW stores while they had them. They got a big bag of them, I managed to score 4 and my gf got 2. I think they will be my cold blooded roll in all my games.
