Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm playing against orcs with a 2k army using Slann and an EOTG for my magic needs. But all of my spells were neutralised by a banner he gets which generates a DD for each rank, 2 wizards and he also took 4 dispel scrolls. The banner and scrolls only cost half as much as the slann but it effectively neutralised it. Is this just a really cheesy way for the orcs to win against magic heavy armies or is there some tactics I can use to deal with it quickly, i'm kinda new to warhammer.
So 50 points on the banner, 180 for a orc unit to carry this (mininium), 4 scrolls assumingly on two lvl 1 caddies, 100 and 100.
So he spent 430 on magic defense, he generates 2 for showin up, 3 for ranks from the banner and 1 and 1 from the caddies.
Now my question is how did you build your slann? Defensive solo build or TG guarded caster machine?
If with the gifts of knowing gaining a free power dice to every spell cast, and either plaque of tepok or the gift to know all spells you should be able to over power his casting by the end of turn two provided hes making the mistake of dispelling everything, if you can deduce where that magic banner that generates dispel dice is, and target that you should be able to force him to try to dispel everything.
Also if your skink priest gets lucky and generates second sign of amul, Throw that spell first everytime in your magic phase, turn one use 2 dice if your oppenent dispels it with dice on turn 2 throw 3 dice at it, and your oppenent will be in a rather tough decision making point imo.
Another assumption im making is that you are choosing lore that has lots of damaging spells, fire is probably best versus orcs.
sooooo, charge your stegadon into that unit and most likely, it and it's neighbors will flee off the board. what's the problem? You can't fight every army the same and you can't expect the to sit back and magic a horde army to death.
You're never going to do enough casualties with your magic alone. You're going to have to get a little dirty with horde armies, but your terror will work in your favor. There is nothing cheesy about orcs and goblins, in fact, they are one of the fairest, and most balanced books out there. Because of that, they are one of the easiest armies to beat, since GW is against fair and balanced books.

ok, thx guys for the tips i think I can deal with it now . I let him tie up my steggie for too long i think that also didnt help
(p.s. i was using then slann in temple guard with the free power dice but i kinda got unlucky with casting spells although i got no miscasts. )
