For heavy magic lists, how many priests should you run and how do you kit them? My eotg priests always seem to die from shooting before they can make their points back. Regular priests don't seem to pack any punch as they can't cast thunder or comet without the extra dice from the steg. They usually get ignored, leaving my Slann as the sole target of dispel.
I have a slan, one engine and a lone skink priest which works wonders.
Daemonic cheese-how? Well, you would need to start with daemonic milk, i guess...
This is a related question so I thought I'd stick it in here rather than start another thread. How does rumination on the Slann work with Power Stones? Can a power stone be used to cast a spell without using any real dice, and then gain a bonus die from rumination for a total of 3? Can two stones be used on one spell for 5 (+1 rumination)? Can a stone on a skink priest be used to generate dice for the Slann?
And to the OP;
If I really want to make a power gaming list, I would try slann with ruminations + focus of mystery. he'll have 2 power stones and maybe something else depending on the rest of the points spent
2 EOTG skinks with a powerstone and a dispel scroll each
and a single lone priest with cloak of feathers and a dispel scroll.
that's 14 power dice total without the slann's +1 for every spell he casts.
You may have been thinking of the slann free power dice discipline which can't be used by itself to cast a spell.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Wow, so I really can use just a power stone to cast a spell and add one from rumination? That's a dirty trick!
Slann Mage-priest - BSB, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, 2 Power Stones, Cupped hands of the Old Ones
Give him Lore of Fire and he can cast:
In one phase!
- Fireball (2 dice)
- Burning Head (3 dice)
- Fiery Blast (3 dice)
- Conflaguration of Doom (power stone used for 3 dice [unlikely to successfully cast without an EoTG helping])
- Wall of Fire (pool dice and a power stone for 4 dice)!
I take a Slann, one Skink Priest on an Engine, and one walking when I'm playing friendly or two walking when I am playing hard/against tough armies like Vampires/Daemons. My Engine of the Gods does not die often, and neither does the priest on top, and on the times it does it leaves my other wizards(and the rest of my army) almost untouched so it's a bonus as much as a loss!
