    Lizardmen vs. Ogre Kingdoms!

Hey guys first time user on here and big lizardman player. I’m doing a mighty empires campaign and one of my opponents is ogre kingdoms. I played a friendly 1000 point game and got massacred. So wiith the guys I have, I could use some advice I was thinking pure magic and using this army list in a 2250 against his. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Slann
    -Focus of Mystry
    -The Focus Rumination
    -Higher State of Consciousness
    -Beclaiming Cogitation
    -BSB
    =450

    (16)Temple Gaurd
    -Std Bearer
    -Musician
    =277
    (2) Skink Priest Lv2 = 200 (100 each)

    -(2) Ancient Steg w/ Engine 580 (290 each)
    -(1) Rod of Storms+25

    =415

    (20 ) Skink Skrimishers
    =140
    (10 ) Skink Skrimishers
    = 70

    (20 ) Saurus Warriors+Spears
    -Std Bearer
    -musician
    =258

    Stegadon =235

    (3) Kroxigors =165

    Saurus Cavalry (6)
    -Std Bearer

    In Total =2,250

P.S. in case your wondering about champions, i think lizardmen champions are not worth it.

Ouch. I have a few friends that would most definately not go up against that list.

You have a level 4 Wizard and effectively 2 level 3 wizards. along side that there are 3 stegadons, including 2 which can cast an irresistable spell in your magic phase.

Theres 12 Power dice 8 Dispel dice, before you factor in focused rumination. Then you have 2 spells from the Engine that cannot be dispelled and the rod of storms giving another spell.

So if you wanted a magic heavy army you got one
Eldar: Hakan-eth Craftworld - Lead by Head Farseer Jaraith 2500pts
    Tau: Yihe'ya Sept - Lead by Shas'O Yihe'a Montro Myen Kauyon 1500pts

Way too expensive. drop Higher state and BC

Give champ a sword of the hornet ( ASF)

    (2) Skink Priest Lv2 = 200 (100 each)

    -(2) Ancient Steg w/ Engine 580 (290 each)
    -(1) Rod of Storms+25

    =415

    (20 ) Skink Skrimishers
    =140

Turn it into 2 units of 10.

    (10 ) Skink Skrimishers
    = 70

    (20 ) Saurus Warriors+Spears
    -Std Bearer
    -musician
    =258

    Champ

    Stegadon =235

    (3) Kroxigors =165

Drop them. You have 5 hammers and 2 anvils. Instead, take a unit of 30 saurus with spears.

    Saurus Cavalry (6)
    -Std Bearer
    -Musician
    =240
Drop the standard. No point in giving away 100 KP with 6 wounds

    In Total =2,250

P.S. in case your wondering about champions, i think lizardmen champions are not worth it.
Why is the champ not worth it? He's got an extra attack and can issue/accept challenges.

I'm playing a mighty empires campaign at the moment too. Personally, all our players are playing for fun. Facing 3 stegadons, 1 level 4 and 2 level 3's is going to make for a very boring game, not to mention very one sided if people aren't making lists as powerful as these.

I would drop the special choice steg. S5 and a BS3 Bolt thrower are not worth it. Take a scar vet, Give him hide of the cold ones. He then causes fear and therefore, while alive, nullifies the ogre's fear for his whole unit.

I normally take 2 units of saurus, 1 EOTG, slann + temple guard.

Salamanders work wonders. s5, cause fear with 3 attacks each is wonderful for flank charging. They can also cause ogres to panic back (5+ to wound on t4 with -2 to armour)

Ultimately what I think is that with a list like that you'll be facing lots of insanely magic heavy daemon and dark elf lists. Aswell as shooty DE and HE. People will "power game" back hard.

Also, if i'm not mistaken, in the campaign you are forced to keep heroes until they die, so you're 1300ish points of HQ is to stick around even when they're disadvantages.

    Best of luck either way,

    Glavas

I agree with glavas for the most part. Though I would point out to him that salamanders only have 2 attacks.

But this list is power list for the most part. If others in the group are going this way also, then it would be OK. But if not, I would tone it down a bit.

    Good luck,

Hey first of all thanks for the replys i really do appreciate it. Second, mostly everyone has at least 1 power gamer list or as my dwarf ally and best friend says a WINhammer list lol. i like the hornet idea and should tone down the slann and take out the Kroxigors and try to make one big unit of Saurus, or should i have 20 Temp Gaurd and make them in 6x5 (including slann). As long as i at least prove as a challange to his list idk if i win or lose really. i do have 5 salamanders but id rather have 2 EoTG wreaking Ogre shop.

Two units of 18-20 would be sufficient.

Sounds like the plan is to degrade/wipe out enemy units via magic and then finish off whatever closes with a combined Steggie/Saurus attack then?

I'd go with either Lore of Fire as I recall there are lots of spells that can slow down and do a lot of damage to an army, whcih you need to do.

Stay way back in your deployment zone, he HAS to come to you.

if he has some unit that has some kick ass anti-magic properties (doubtful for Ogres but still), you may need to break your saurus cavalry to go forward and take it out as they advance .
