Hi all, my local group have decided to have a small 500pt tournament, as i have never played a 500pt game with lizards i was looking for advice on what to take, and if there are any effective lists/strategies for lizards at 500pts?
Skink Chief on baby stegadon with mundane spear
10 skink skirmishers
10 saurus with musician and spears
It's putting alot of emphasis on the stegadon, but that is a lot of hurt. And at unit strength 10, If your opponent has 9 or fewer guys alive at the end of the charge, he is going to run away.
The Stegadon does 1+D6 hits before the fight and then between it and the chief there are 7 more str 5 attacks.
This list is being a jerk though. And a cannon will mess you up.

yeah, cheers for the help, i was actually hoping to stay away from stegs, but they do make alot of sense at 500pts
I'd try to give that Skink Chief the Stegadon Spear. an extra D6 hits on the charge plus upping your own str to 6 on the charge should break any unit that you charge.
I would spam skinks. A couple of priests, a bunch of skirmishers with blowpipes, a salamander, and some terradons. Just run around willy nilly, and make him chase you.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
I played a lizardman player at 500pt and let me tell you that steggy is a world of hurt. I charged it with 2 units, a light cav and chaos marauders and it did nothing. The mean ol thing ran me over into my unit with my Sorcerer. :/ Some armies really don't have much to counter the steggy unless they're expecting to fight it specifically.
don't bring a steggie if you are going up against the DE, HE, or Dwarves....all of them would reasonably be expected to have a RBT or a Canon in a 500 point list, either of which could spell doom for your steggie
