    Rare Choices

It was recently brought to my attention by a fellow LO forum user that the EotG doesn't count as a rare choice in addition to a hero choice. Is this true (not that I don't trust the user who first told me)?

    Thanks,

    DeRailed_612

Yes it is true. Anything that takes up an additional slot will be clearly stated in its entry. No such qualifier is stated for the stegadon, so it doesn't take up any slots.

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.

I read somewhere that the Ancient Steggie plus EOTG does not count as a rare if you use it as a mount for the Priest, right?

That is correct. Nor does a stegadon ridden by a chief count as a rare or special choice. A carnosaur does not take up an extra slot of any type either.

Although if you play in a comped tournament in Australia the Stegs DO count as what their slot would have been. Grrr...

Hmm, I could have sworn that was in the players pack for Dogcon. Turns out I was wrong.

However, I know you can't repeat a rare choice (or have 3 of the same special choice) and I am pretty sure that a Steg in a hero slot counts for this in Aussie tournies. So you can take a EoTG and still take a Razordon to go along with your Salamander (for instance), but you can't take a rare Ancient Steg.

Ah, I see. It only counts as a rare for the purposes of repeating the same unit choice?
