Trying out some new scarvet builds
Cheap as chips. Is going to go last most of the time anyway so GW going last wont mean much. Strengh 7 attacks and causes fear with 1+ save vs shooting and 2+ in CC.
Any other combos?
I keep seeing the scar-vet used with the armor of destiny and a shield for a 2+ save with a 4+ ward save. Put him on a cold one if you want that one last pip for his armor. Some people even make him the battle standard bearer, though you won't be getting a magic standard then.
That sounds like a great setup, but just one (n00b) question: the armor of destiny says that it is heavy armor that confers a 4+ ward. So that's a 5+/4+, then the shield gives +1 to armor for a 4+/4+. Where does the 2+ come from? Does the scaly skin stack with the armor of destiny? If so, where does it say that in the rules? Sorry to be a bother and kind of hijack your thread...
it come from cold one's trick skin that give 5+ armor save and scaly skin 5+ i am not sure of scaly skin can combine to an armor in 8th ed i dont got that book... yet
Yeah I found it. Scaly Skin is a special rule in the BRB. Was just about to edit my post.
DOesnt armour now stack with scaly skin? So 5+ armour with 5+ S.S. become a 3+? Then cold one mount make it 1+ ?
It is true they all stack, but the Rulebook now states that the best possible armour save is 1+.
Bringing this thread back on topic, here's a scar-vet build that is working well for me:
Armour of fortune
Potion of foolhardiness
Yep, Scaly Skin does stack with regular armour, but you can only get a 1+ save at best.
Another build I sometimes use is:
The Maiming Shield
After causing one wound he will have frenzy, pumping him up to 5 attacks at strength 7, though the one extra attack given to you by the shield will be at S 5. Remember that frenzy doesn't necessarily mean you will always charge now, you can instead take a leadership test to not charge, and with our cold-blooded rule that should be pretty easy. His 3+ armour save isn't that bad either; and I suppose you could always put him on a cold one too if you really wanted to.
