In a 3000 point list I was thinking of taking 2 Slann, both with the Focused Rumination, and one of them with Lore of Death. The sheer amount of spells you will be able to cast in a turn will be overwhelming. What do you guys think? It would probably run me about 700-750 points which means no Old One and I think that may be way too many points on magic but still...averaging about 13-15 power dice plus any you get back from lore of death will be incredible!
Another Quick Question: How do you guys run Skink Priests in 8th (along with a slann). They are just so fragile! IT is my understanding that a cannonball will hit both rider and mount (?) so engine of the gods seems like a gamble.
Two slanns seems great indeed but i think that there is just to few dice for you to use them effectively, also if you are taking two slann means minimal equipment on each, the can cost you max 350 points so one cannonball going through will pop or genuinly hurt the slann, so it seems great but i do not think it would work out. Try out it out though and let me know how it goes for you.

I am with Billy on this. There just isn't enough dice to go around to use both effectively. One slann is quite capable of using 10+ winds of magic dice. So that won't leave much for the other. And you will usually have a priest around with some good heavens spells you may want to cast. But give it a try and let us know how it works for you.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Even with Focused Rumination and lore of death extra Dice? I am in the process of getting my lizardmen together so I can't exactly try it out yet lol. When I get it together I will try it for sure and let you all know how it goes.
The thing about lore of death is that while it is excellent at sniping characters and killing monsters but lacks the potential to cause mass damage, excluding purple sun. Also all the spells have a relitively low range so it would be required to boost the range to use the spells from the begining of the game meaning more dice are needed to be used, and a1 in 6 chance for destroy our army is a bit too much for me.It may seem like "its just a 1 in 6 chance" but that one time it happens it will destroy your army. Also you only have a chance to get more dice, but again try it let us know when your able to, i would much rather try out an oldblood but to each his own.
You can be sure I'll post my results when I can scrape together my army. I'm thinking magic carpet for the death slann with higher state of consciousness or something.
its quite an interesting concept this one. Im pleased by it because in 7th i'd got used to playing two slann in my very large games.
One counter to the potential purple sun misfire is to have your other slann take lore of light and cast speed of light on the other slanns units/your battleline.
The magic carpet idea also has potential.
