So far since I have come back to fantasy I have yet to play against any monsters save giants (which skinks own) so I'm not exactly sure what to do against the DE player Im matched up against in my campaign this week. She always takes a hydra and I'd like to try to kill it at range. I was thinking lore of fire or banner of fiery attacks on temple guard (which i don't typically take). I got 2125 points to her 2050 so I do have a nice advantage to start.
How would you do it?

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Only problem is that at 2125 i dont get an old blood and a slann...
I would use lore of beasts and the amber spear with your slanns plus 4 casting it should be easy to get off and no as d3 wounds will end monsters fast or a stegadon with a bow
but the 4+ regen save against amber spear...Ill hafta find somebody to get a practice game in with.
You could always get at it with a nice solid block of Saurus, or Temple Guard, then flank it with some Kroxigors, or anything really. Maybe you won't outright kill it, but combat resolution could take care of it nicely. Or just magic it to death hah.

Hm...flaming stegadon sounds awesome! I think I should do that!
My latest idea is Lore of light for the S6 burning spell followed by the other magic missile and then Temple Guard with flaming banner and probably +1 movement from BSB to help with positioning to use ASF or I10 when i get into combat with it to do some real damage.
Flaming Stegadon...I love the mental image I am getting!
or just lore of death get lore master then use ¨doom and darkness¨ and then the signatur spell ( cant remember then name of it ) or just use the spell number 6 and make instant kill on it
