I'm having renewed interest in my lizardmen army, and while writing a new 2000 pts list ( I want to include a stegadon now ) I came across an idea. Most people take a slann templeguard bunker and make the slann BSB, but what about a stegadon ( young or ancient ), with a skink chief and the army battle standard, for an 18" radius.
There are downsides of course, the skink is pretty fragile, and if he fails his breaktest the entire stegadon with skink BSB is removed.
What do you think though?
i think a cannon can do a lot of messy things with your BSB , but other than that it might just work out. it's just that a slann BSB give's a lot more advantages than a stega BSB, because it's in a solid block of TG and all unit's within BSB range can also use his leadership if he's the general. and we should not forget that a stegadon has no wardsave, and if it's killed you've got a skink BSB with a big flag to show the enemy where he's hiding to be killed.
i think if you use the stegaBSB, you should build your army and tactics around it, to make optimal use of it, if you don't, just use a slann
I have played with the chief BSB on steg before. I think it is really only viable in a 3k game though. It just to big a chunk of points for a 2k list.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
