Yes i Love them as well. The issue I have is how to deal with them in combat. Being monster handlers from what I understand;
Against shooting and magic: wound against the highest toughness (T4) and once wounded figure out which model is hit 1-4 salamander and 5-6 skink. once done then take any appropriate armor saves.
Against hand to hand: This is where it gets weird for me. no matter what direction i get charged from i line up the salamanders to face the attackers. The skinks fall in behind. Do i get more than 2 skinks per base? ie if i have 3 salamanders can i get 8 skinks fighitng? 2 behind each of them and then 1 on each corner base. now what happens when the team already in combat gets flanked or reared? i am to assume you can never target the skinks in hand to hand. so how does this work?
A follow on question is regarding the stegadon. it is a ridden monster. does a template weapon affect all of the skinks in addition to the monster. That is how I play. What about a warp lighting canon or a empire cannon? does it affect both rider and monster and if so does it hit all of the skinks or just one?
Salamanders - Yes, you can have up to 8 Skinks giving supporting attacks. However, if you get charged in the rear while alread in combat, they can target the skinks.
Template - A stone thrower/flame template hits EVERYTHING on the model. It's under the template rules. When a cannon bounces, only one model is affected, however, if it's a WLC and it bounces and explodes on the stegadon, everything is affected
Sorry I dont know how to quote within a quote lol. anyways; not sure why this doesnt apply to razordons and salamanders as for the shooting and magic. is it b/c the army book says randomize.
on your comment about the rear once in combat you said move the skinks out of the way and then they still fight. where do they go? how many attacks can the enemy dedicate to them vice the salamanders?
anyone know of any youtube videos expalining visually how the skirmishes move and fight and how the monsterhandlers, such as salamanders, do the same
