Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just wanted to know, what units (Hero, Core etc) would be good to take against the Daemons, & whatever answers i get from this question i will post an army list to see what you guys reckon. thanx
Deamons are tricky. Would be nice to know how many points your talking about so we know what we have to play with.
But what i noticed about deamons is that they have good magic and good enough close combat troops. Not that much ranged shooty. So try using standard 25 saurus, 20 TG with a slann and skinks. Maybe even 3x12 skinks to shoot them up before they arive at your door. Use salamanders against Bloodletter and Deamonetts since their T3. Otherwise its trying to flank them. And deamons being so cost heavy that usually isn't a problem if you run kroxigorr, stegadons or Cold One Riders.
These are the things that sprang into my mind for an army list, up to you if you like it or not
It will be about 2000pts also what Lord/Hero would be good a Slann or Oldblood/Scar-Vet? thanx
It depends on how your opponent will be building his army. Luckily you wont be facing the super hard Greater Deamons we learned to love in 7'th edition. Mostly you will face off against some Heralds or the Skulltaker. But back to the choice of lords and heroes. You will need magic defence in my opinion, demons have very good magic and a slann is always good, give him life or light to buff your army and your set.
An oldblood is fun to have and can be designed to beat anything to a pulp. Favorit with him is giving him as many attacks as you can, which is about 8 i think with the +3 attack sword, and then a 5+ ward. Put him on a cold one and give him a shield and he is really hard to put down.
For heroes its a personal thing. If you are taking the Oldblood, take one lvl 2 skink priest and one lvl1 for magic. If your taking the slann, go for a lvl 2 skink priest and a scar veteran with your saurus. It's all about having a balance between magic/close combat. Or you can go crazy and do all CC or all magic
really its up to you. aaand ive been rambling on for way too long but i hope this helps
Actually that helped a lot thanx for the advice.
glad to help
cant help myself but if you have the Gor'Rok model, use him and buy yourself a nice little pet carnasour. It puts you back 210 pts yes but he is an awsome miniatuer and the biggest, baddest monster i have ever seen. ^^
Demons lack warmachines which is why big monster work well against those guys.
@2000pts I have only had massacres in my favour against demons using a Slann with lore of light based list.
Take two units of 20 saurus with full command as core, a medium unit of TG to hide the slann, some chameleon skinks, 2 units of 2 salamanders and you're away. Spend the other points on whatever else. A cheeky scar vet with great weapon, heavy armour of 5+ward save and a luckstone has also been really effective for me in this set up.
Cool so salamanders are good to take against Daemons sweet & what about Cold One Cavalry or a Stegadon? & because of his base size does the Stegadon get a "stomp" or "D6 stomps" and would the Carnosaur get the same thing? thanx
They are both classified as monsters so they get thunderous stomp against infantry models.
I just played daemons on Friday. I won but it was a hard fought battle. First time using Lore of Light for me. Im normally a life person. He brought that 50 pt banner that makes me cast at minus 2 and all double 1,2, or 3's are miscasts. To say the least i sent a suicide unit of saurus directly to him and try to kill him. +4 ward save sux lol. one double 2 miscast killed 7 temple guard and one wound on the slann.
as for a list im a big fan of not using any heros or lords other than the required general. our troops are so hard core that i dont think we need the support.
i bring a slann with 2 diciplines (focused rumination and becognition one) that second one is amazing by disgarding all of the enemies 6's while casting.
2 units of 17 saurus HW and shield full cmd
1 unit of 16 temple gaurd full cmd. I give the champion the gambits armor (20pts heavy armor with 6 ward) this gives him a +2 AS with + 6 WS. I give the unit the flaming banner
1 unit of 1 salamander
1 unit of 2 salamander
1 unit of 1 razordon
1 unit of 2 razordon
1 unit of 4 kroxigor
1 unit of 14 skinks with musician
1 unit of 9 chamelon skinks
it comes to like 1999 pts. I have been really sucessful with this list.
one lesson learned from bringing lore of light though is i dont have miscast protection like i do in life. so i think i will probably drop a razordon and use the points twds cupped hands and the bane thing that will do double dmg. nothing like targeting a 2 wound mage and killing him from a miscast that you caused.
another benefit form this list is you can control the game, because you have so many things to lay down for a 2K game that you will basically see his army before you have to put anything down worth while. it is nice when he goes first and then it is your deployment and you lay down one salamander and then it is his turn. lol not much to work with from that.
played a game yesterday with two of my friends and learned the power of Lore of Life. It will probably be the main lore for Lizardmen in the future since its just insanly good. Throne of Vines, Flesh to stone, earth blood and possible dwellers bellow and your set. Had a unit of temple gaurd with T8 and 4+ reg save battling it out with 50 Empire spearmen. Also, you can more or less just go six dice on the important things you need to cast since on a 2+ the misscast is ignored, which my friends had a good shout about it being OP (i agree whole heartidly).
Life is a buff lore and with our cost heavy units, its good to have them survive even longer.
Last thing; dwellers bellow must be the best darn spell ever. Killed one warrior priest, BSB and 25'ish spearmen and 7 Chaos Warriors with it with two casting attempts. Best spell ever? (A)
