Starting a thread for ideas on what to purchase next for my new lizardman army. I have the army book, a battlalion box and an extra box of saurus warriors.
I have only opened the box of saurus warriors (mainly to tru out paint scheme) and have built them as sword and shield infantry.
The battalion box is unopened and was thinking of doing the following:
5 cold one calvary (no champs or command)
turn one of the spare cold one calvary into a scar vet on cold one
another cold one calvary into an scar vet on foot (using a couple of parts from the temple guard)
the final one possibly into a unit champion.
Temple Guard (as standard)
Saurus Warriors with Spears and Shields
Skinks with blow pipes
Does anyone recommend any changes to this proposed build? Also what should I buy next? was thinking a couple of salamander hunting packs and possibly a slann mage priest
Any advice on this would be good, as want to make a hard hitting competitive army for an upcoming campaign.
Salamanders are a very good choice. A slann is good also, though if you are going to run him with some temple guard, you will need another box of them.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
I am fond of my Stegadon and would recommend getting one of them. Also as Sir Kently stated a Slann is a good choice.
Obviously like said if you want to play temple guard increase unit size, might be a good idea to do it to the cold one cavalry as well. Apart from that a a stegadon sounds good or terradon riders, able to harry the enemy flanks and force them to send some fast troops to get you. Finally I would personally include some razordons instead of salamanders (personally), generally I find them more useful.
Kinda depends on what you intend on doin with the army. Slann is an obvious great choice for the huge magic potential, terradons/cold ones for flanking and taking out warmachines. Salamanders (w/extra handlers of course) have a wide range of uses including protecting your flanks, scaring off smaller units, and just killing! Flamethrowing, fear causing mosters ftw.

Have gone for a slann, another box of temple guard, skinks, warriors and a salamander hunting pack.
That gives me a decent HQ, 20temple guard, 2 units of 24 saurus (1with sword and shield - not sure about other), 36skinks (10with pipes, 10with pipes, 10 with javelins and turn the last 6 into chameleon skinks), 8 cold one calvary and a salamander pack.
What would be the best load out for my second warriors squad, shall i go sword and shield again or do spears and shields.
Id go with spears for them all. It's not that the 6++ save is bad, but i dont think it makes up for loosing one rank of attacks with spears.
