I am wondering if anyone else thinks the sun standard of Chotec has lingering effects on a unit. The lizardmen official FAQ states:
"Missiles fired at the bearer [of the Sun Standard of Chotec] or any unit he has joined suffer a -2 to hit modifier if they are fired at a range of up to 12", or a -1 to hit modifier if fired at a range of more than 12."
The part that says "any unit he has joined" suggests to me that if I run my standard bearer through a bunch of units they should also benefit from the modifier vs missile fire.
For example, the bearer is in a unit of saurus (unit 1) during deployment. They benefit from the standard. In turn 1, he leaves unit 1 and joins another unit of saurus (unit 2) which then benefit as well. Unit 1 should still benefit because he has previously joined them. His current location, as worded in the faq is irrelevant. Similarly, if the standard bearer dies, the unit should still benefit, because the bearer has still joined them. If GW didn't want it to be this way the FAQ would read " "Missiles fired at the bearer or any unit he IS IN..."
Sounds like it us what ever unit he us in. How can you take advantage in an item buff if you no longer have that item in the unit
Bad wording by GW, but it makes no logical sense, so I wouldn't play it that way. And I know GW doesn't always make logical sense, but this would be going to far outside the box for me.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Have to side with what has already been said. It's too far of a stretch of wording to try to claim that it still works for units no longer joined with the Banner
